I'm sorry, what is the point of this thread?

Sexy-Mexy, wannabe Hipsters
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
LOL, my local Chipotle is like an exhibit of various flavors of tatted-up lesbian.

I could give a rat's ass about the health of it all. The food is tastier and more for your $ than Pollo Loco's burritos; that's as far as my decision making process goes.

Sounds like some strip clubs I've been to.

Really? I think it's shamefully bland for so-called Mexican food. But at least it's not as gross as Taco Smell.

Jumbo's Clown Room in east Hollywood, baby. Nothing like a Gangnam style K-town chick doing the machine guns on a mirrored ceiling to Rick Astley songs w/$4 bottom shelf double pours.

Meanwhile they sell 4 items. Most of them are wrapped or have corn tortilla's in them. 85% of all corn is GMO's, and has been for quite some time. Somehow this is all of a sudden a huge problem and health concern.

I always get a burrito bowl, no tortilla, and a lot of others do so as well, not necessarily for the GMO but for staying low on carbs. I think they are pretty tasty and since you have the option to tell them every single ingredient you want in your meal it can be pretty healthy.

7   SammyC   2013 Jun 19, 11:21am

Hmmm, well I love chipotle because:

I get a bowl with:
Rice (about a cup)
Beans (about 3 Tblespoons)
Guacamole, they have excellant, hass avocadoe made fresh daily guac.
Lettuce,
Corn (oops, yeah I don't know if it is organic?)
Cheese (a sprinkle)

And I would typically get one hot corn tortilla.

Now it is actually a really good meal and reasonable.
Although I do agree with your perspective, are they not trying to
be better than the others? And do they or do they not use organic
corn or organic corn tortillas.

Thanks for your rant though.

Don't be surprised.

That's like saying vomit is tastier than diarrhea. I feel sorry for people who don't live in California where there's a REAL taco stand on every corner that's 10 times better and 10 times cheaper than that Chipotle garbage. White rice on a burrito? WTF? If there aren't any Mexicans eating there, it isn't any good.

Heh, I'd rather have Taco Bell. At least it has some seasonings in it that taste vaguely like Mexican food.

Because some folk were born to open mediocre burrito franchises; others were born to write polemics about them.

Still others were born to be young Dennis Hoppers.

Well just as long as they are "organic", "responsibly raised" and "GMO free"
as far as we can tell, more power to you!

He he. Good rant, but unfortunately it will go right over everybody's heads.

Chipotle is pretty bland stuff. The best Mexican food I ever have usually comes from smaller Mom-n-pop joints or off of food trucks. Even the "Hot" sauce that Chipotle sells is barely even mild in my opinion.

Bland?? Ha ha, they take perfectly good food and mange to really fuck it up somehow. I couldn't believe that I paid them for the opportunity to screw up my tastebuds like that, but I only did it once.
We're like you, we go to the local Mexican establishments that are OWNED and OPERATED by Mexicans for Mexican food. It stops the money leak while always tasting better.

17   Facebooksux   2013 Jun 20, 3:44am

It's too damn salty and the cheap bastards ALWAYS try to skimp on the protein.

18   edvard2   2013 Jun 20, 3:47am

Yeah. exactly. There's a place near where I work in an old shopping center. I never knew it was there until I was at the shopping center and was really hungry and saw it.

Anyway, menu is painted on a piece of plywood and the burritos comes with damned near everything. Plus they have lots of peppers, radishes, limes and whatnot. Its totally a gut bomb but its super good. I'm usually out the door for less than $5.

About 50 times better than some fast food Mexican place.

The hot sauce is pretty mild on the tastebuds, but does wonders for your gastrointestinal tract about an hour later.

20   anonymous   2013 Jun 20, 6:17am

In 2003, a Center for Science in the Public Interest report stated that Chipotle's burritos contain over 1,000 calories, which is nearly equivalent to two meals' worth of food.[57][58] MSNBC Health.com placed the burritos on their list of the "20 Worst Foods in America" because of their high caloric content and high sodium.[59] When a burrito with carnitas, rice, vegetables, cheese, guacamole, and salsa was compared with a typical Big Mac, the burrito had more fat, cholesterol, carbohydrates, and sodium than the Big Mac, but it also had more protein and fiber.[60]

-----------------

Where's my ASCII image of man hanging his head into his hand over his eyes, in dismay?

Quantity of calories does not matter, it only matters the QUALITY of the calories.

High sodium content, is the boogey man, if you are eating real, unprocessed foods.

Carnitas, cheese, avacado, sour cream, vegetables, salsa, are all good for you! Does not matter how many calories of these food stuffs one ingests, because they are healthy and bring about satiety, well before high caloric content could ever be an issue

Its the rice, beans, and tortilla that are to be avoided

Sunflower oil is better than soy oil, however, it should be avoided due to its high lineolic acid levels, which leaves you with too much omega 6. Also, commercial sunflower oils tend to go rancid easily

21   Shaman   2013 Jun 20, 8:08am

There is a point here. I've eaten their burritos and its hard to finish a whole one. Half would make me feel satisfied. I don't think chipotle is bad food, just very bland food. I like a lot more taste from my ethnic food.
I have to drench their stuff in Sriracha before it starts hitting my taste buds.

Do you smoke or eat a lot of food with artificial flavoring? I ate at one of these establishments once in West Hollywood a few years back (Warren Beatty was eating there with his kid -- no, I didn't bother him) and remember it being an all-out sodium fest, but not unbearably bland.

I eat the hell out of beans. They do right by me (though I might be a little hard to live with sometimes).

Errc, everything you say about nutrition is nonsense. Aren't you the one who said in the other thread that eating bacon by the pound is healthy? Now you say calories don't matter. ROFL, dude.

You're some kind of "Atkins" nut, huh? The 1990s called - they want their diet back.

27   Blurtman   2013 Jun 20, 12:13pm

That is the key to success. Starbucks anyone? Dupe willing consumers with a marketing campaign designed to distract, and offer them death on a plate or in a cup. It really, really works as the porky cosumer really wants to be lied to.

28   Homeboy   2013 Jun 20, 12:20pm

Why is Starbucks "death in a cup"? Are you talking about those giant fake coffee drinks they serve that's really a milkshake in disguise?

Seems like they have a leg up on cannibal anarchy, they can just harvest the homeless and have spring loaded nets in their dempsey dumpsters.

Mince them up, brains, bones, intestines and all and serve them with a tomato on a tortilla.

Are the homeless considered genetically modified or just genetically mortified?

OK so there seems to be a lot of hate around Chipotle. If you want oversipiced mexican food of course there are many different places to choose from. Here in N Cal, N of SF even the Mom and Pop places are $$ and if one is a vegeterian (which I can only imagine you will all HATE) then it is almost impossible because the beans are almost always cooked with Chicken stock (for flavor and just to rib vegetarians). So when I do go to your Mom and Pop places there is pretty much nothing I can eat but the prices for what I can is the same or higher than Chipotle.

And usually their guacamole SUCKS. They use low grade avocadoes or give you a teaspoon full or cut it with sour cream, I'm telling you I've tried many places and they
are usually no too good. Now you can tell I'm all about the avocadoes and guacamole, all the rest I don't know. But at least I don't have to always ask what is in the food. As far as the kitchen staff I don't know and I'm not too sure they are all like some people say here.

37   Homeboy   2013 Jun 25, 5:45am

Hey dumbass, here's why you think those Chipotle "vegetarian" beans taste so good:
