Retail is about to take a serious hit.
We just had to replace a 5 year old $2,000 GE Profile refidgerator with another $2,000 refridgerator made by Samsung.
I'm done with GE and so far everything in my house is damn near made by Samsung.
A few months back our 4 year old Whirlpoll washingmachine took a crap and we replaced that with Samsung.
If either of those break, I swear I'll look for 20+ year old appliances screw retail. I'm not buying this shit for the looks.
If it wasn't for Samsung I would be buying used stuff now. Every American brand has pretty much gone to shit. As they have moved their opperations to Mexico and other countries.
You're better off buying from foriegn companies in foreign countries. At least they aren't actively trying to be a cheap ass by moving to cheap labor countries. They started there, so they can already focus on making their product. Instead of all of the protocols for moving your operation to cheap labor countries.
I've noticed since I've stopped watching TV and have cut the cord, I don't get the retail gimmies as much as I used to.

Our Frigidaire keeps on breaking every year too. I was thinking of getting a GE next, but sounds like that's not the best choice. TPB you hear good things about Samsung? My wife and I are just looking to get a fridge that won't break the ice maker annually.
THe cheap plastic corkscrew in the icemaker of the GE fridge broke the first summer when the ice condensated froze solid.
The corkscrew was made out of the same brittle clear plastic that clear pastic shelfs are made out of. So I saw no reason to replace it, I knew I would be buying at least one or two every summer.

Shipping company bankrupt, looks like they are getting bought or bailed out by someone else. Either way, retail is taking a hit. Not sure how soon this will reflect in earnings reports.
