To see the whiny reaction of these leftists makes me embarrassed to be human. It's honestly like watching a 7-year-old spoiled brat throwing a tantrum. What a bunch of pathetic pussies....Trump will grab 'em.

Leftists, not liberals. Noam Chomsky is a liberal.

Fair enough. Changed.

The citizens of Venezuela are not starving because socialism is inherently bad. If that were true, then the citizens of America would be starving just as much. Social security, medicare, the army, the roads, the sewers, the police, the fire fighters are all socialist programs. Your assertion that socialism causes starvation is empirically false.

Just as you pointed out with Communism, there are levels to socialism. And from what I've heard from those who have lived afar, we are one of the least socialist countries out there. I think your assertion is, how'd you put it:

Dan8267 says

is also the most grotesque example of oversimplification I've ever read.

Wrong. Economics isn't a glass half full of socialism, a quarter communism, and a quarter capitalism. Economics is a bridge with structures that are socialist and other structures that are capitalist. You don't measure bridge design in percentages or levels. Furthermore, you are still basing your entire world view on an irrational emotional reaction to words and propaganda from the mid-20th century. Luckily this delusional word view of yours is not shared by Millennials. You try to pull that cold war bullshit on Millennials and they'll look at you like your crazy.

46   NuttBoxer   2016 Nov 11, 12:26pm

I used a trigger word, because I knew you would bite, and because you are under the delusion that socialism is good. Your "bridges" postulating is BS. I'll use something real, and not abstract. The government run grocery stores in Venezuela are socialist. Fixed prices that don't reflect market value, leading to massively inefficient delivery of goods where you stand in line all day for nothing. Free market(also called black market) stores. Accurately priced, and you get your goods immediately. Both exist in the largely socialist failed state of Venezuela.

What did you just do again...?

If you think you are succeeding at trolling you are wrong.

NuttBoxer says

you are under the delusion that socialism is good.

So you think we should completely defund the military, the police, the fire departments, all public roadways, the FBI, the CIA, and the NSA? Unless your answer is a resounding yes, you are contradicting yourself and being hypocritical.

NuttBoxer says

Your "bridges" postulating is BS.

Contradiction is not counter-argument. I could just as easily simply respond to everything you say with "that's b.s.". You are adding nothing to the conversation, and so there is no need for me to respond to your baseless contradiction.

NuttBoxer says

Straw man argument. No one has ever argued that socialism should be used for everything.

Furthermore, government run stores with fixed prices are exactly NOT socialism. If individuals are paying for goods and services for themselves and no one else, that's CAPITALISM. It's just that the owners in Venezuela is the government. The people aren't collectively owning the goods. The government is owning and controlling the goods no different than a corporation with a monopoly. In effect, the government is a corporation and a private owner that controls the market. That's exactly what capitalism is.

Yes, capitalism and communism are the exact same economic model when taken to their logical end and purist form. The only difference is nomenclature. Do you call the owners government or corporation? The owners differ in name only.

A socialist system would be one in which no one pays for his or her individual food, but rather taxes are used to subsidized agriculture. This is exactly what Republicans do every year with the Farm bill (or Agricultural Act). If you really think that socialism is a terrible way to fund food, then petition Republicans to end all agricultural subsidizes. I'll support you on that. The Farm Bill is exactly an example of bad socialism and it should immediately be revoked.

However, the possibility that a strategy can be employed in inappropriate circumstances does not imply that there are no appropriate circumstances in which to employ said strategy.

NuttBoxer says

Fixed prices that don't reflect market value

Fixed prices have nothing to do with socialism. Once again, you are exposing your ignorance about the basics of the subject matter.

The largest socialist program in all of human history is the U.S. military. Are military costs fixed? 'Nuff said.

You really need to cut out all this foolishness.

NuttBoxer says

Free market

Free markets cannot exist under capitalism because the capitalists will always seek to control the markets in order to maximize their profits. Free markets are NOT markets in which the players are free to rig the market. The word "free" modifies the word "market", not the word "player". Free markets are markets free from any manipulation by any party including corporations.

So if you want free markets, you have to abandon capitalism.

Case in point: mortgage back security derivatives. Under capitalism, these were never "accurately priced". Your assertion that capitalism creates prices accuracy is empirically false. If observations of the universe contradict your theory, then it is your theory, not the universe, that is wrong.

NuttBoxer says

the largely socialist failed state of Venezuela

All states are socialist. America employs the tactic more than any other state in history. We spend the greatest percentage of our wealth on socialist programs, most particularly the military.

You should like those photos. You should savor these images of democrats feeling hurt, feeling despair.

After all, that was your real biggest reason for wanting Trump to win. Amiright ?

Revenge is sweet, yes ?

Making America Great Again ! Yeah !

Go easy Marcus. Trump supporters have a right to celebrate, especially after the polls guaranteed Trump would lose.

Polls guaranteed ? 538 and the money had Trump at 30%. That's way better than they had Romney in 2012 in the days before the election.

Be honest. Say in 2020 there is a well contested race, and Trump or whomever the republican is predicted to win in a fairly close race, but the democrats win. Can you imagine liberals gloating over photos of crying republicans ?

Yeah, but the polleters were paid and/or bullied into rigging the polls.

zzyzzx is deplorable says

Yeah, but the polleters were paid and/or bullied into rigging the polls.

This is a ridiculous assertion. Consider:

A) THe polls showing CLinton ahead, may have helped her to lose.

B) And this is very much related to (A), the reason for the discrepancy between polls and outcome is obviously tied to turnout on the democrat side. In other words, the polls reflected accurately the percentage of people that would vote for HIllary over Trump, but they did not accurately reflect how low voter turnout would be among some (Hillary voting) cohorts.

See Logans threads on this, and stop being such an idiot.

Besides, what does this have to do with assholes getting pleasure out of seeing liberals crying ?
