This is utter bullshit. The poor are hurt the most by climate change and benefit from carbon taxes.

I specifically said that the poor will suffer the most from carbon taxes. The poor often have to drive farther for work and will pay more with gas taxes.. And here in California, the poor live farther inland where it is much hotter requiring air conditioning.

The only way to make it not hurt the poor is even more tax redistribution and welfare. Lets make the American tax code even more byzantine!

California just raised the gas tax to ostensibly pay for roads (when it really is going to the 1% government employee pensions). Democrats are always hurting the poor with their misguided policies.

Yes, yes it is.

Lobbying applies to everything legislated. Does that mean we should legislate nothing? Should murder, rape, and terrorism be legal because lobbyists influence laws regarding those things?

Laws against murder usually work (unless a policeman is committing murder, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Joe_Campos_Torres). Tax on carbon might or might not work in protecting environment, but for sure it will make banksters (trading carbon credits) and MIC (selling more weaponry from tax proceeds) more rich. Nuclear power plant will make its owners rich while actually protecting environment.

The audience will notice that one side shows ample evidence, and the other side shows none.

All evidence provided by the scientific community states that it would. Of course, it's not just carbon that's the problem.

Implementation matters, but arguing that no action should be taken because a bad implementation would be bad is ridiculous. Would you apply that to terrorism, rape, or murder? No.

If you want to maximize the likelihood of a good implementation, you simply give no climate change denier a seat at the table when writing the policy. Intent matters. Respect for the truth matters.

These things are not mutually exclusive. They are complimentary.
