PITTSBURGH — A 118-year-old statue of the "Oh! Susanna" songwriter was removed from a Pittsburgh park Thursday after criticism that the work is demeaning because it includes a slave sitting at his feet, plucking a banjo.
...
His songs include "Camptown Races," ''My Old Kentucky Home," ''Beautiful Dreamer" and "Old Folks at Home" (Swanee Song).

He died penniless in New York City in 1864 at age 37
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna869321?__twitter_impression=true

The Statue is being removed because it features a Black Person playing a banjo at Foster's feet.

And this is where we are today.

"'RACIST + RAPIST' SPRAY PAINTED ON THOMAS JEFFERSON STATUE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA"

Washington, Adams and Lincoln will be next.

Then again, I believe you made the claim that each generation is smarter than the last.

Yep. And a couple idiots certainly doesn't disprove that statement.
56   MisdemeanorRebel   2018 May 1, 2:29pm

There is an official ideology and bureaucracy at play here.

http://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/us/2015/august/black-clergy-continue-campaign-against-sanger-bust

So, the statue of a great songwriter is taken down solely because of a black dude playing the banjo sitting next to him, but a vicious Eugenicist who called for sterilizing and aborting the Black Race into extinction is just fine and dandy.

Because the former offending the right Black Folk, but the latter offended the wrongthink Black Folk.

Don't be Right Deviationist!

Not all millenials. This is a tyranny of a very loud, righteous minority. The idiocy of the few is redpilling millenials daily. Expect millenials to continue to leave the left into the near future, as they have over the last 2 years.

At some point the useful idiots will congregate back to the right, at which point the pendulum will start to swing again towards the left.

The useful idiot masses arent going anywhere, despite their current move to leave the left.

Nice that you are the official arbiter of what offends African Americans. Does everyone need to ask you for permission to be offended? Does the request have to be written on a specific form for you to approve?

It's actually quite amusing, because Trump supporters are the ones who are always looking for ways to get offended and persecuted.

How about--let's not honor racists? Is it possible to understand that people used to be racist and homophobic and sexist, and also decide not to idolize and honor them?

Washington - slave owner, Jefferson - slave owner. About the latter two, I am sure that if current atmosphere persists, their statues will be removed in a few years.

In contrast, statues of, for example, De Vargas and Don Juan de Oñate are left where they are. Don Juan de Oñate ordered cutting off Native American feet and in general was genociding Indians left and right. But they belong to currently more politically correct segment of population, namely Hispanic. Can we say different rules for different historic figures based on their ethnic/racial origins?

Bizarro-world stuff right there.

Anyone who is halfway paying attention and honest knows that it is the Left wing that is constantly "offended" as they are tearing down statues, throwing tantrums on college campuses, boycotting corporations, shutting down right-wing speakers, rioting in the streets and creating a gazillion classifications of persecuted groups along with "hate-crime" legislation.

Tell us who is offended again?

Talk about being persecuted. Which party is constantly paranoid that Trump is going to ban contraceptives, reinstate Jim-Crow, throw gays in jail, and force women to have babies?

The left-wing entire brand is to convince people they are being persecuted and need big government to protect them.

Every partisan and smugly liberal I have ever met can sure dish it out, but they shriek and call foul anytime a Conservative hits back rhetorically.

I hate to ruin your argument but ... The Hill has pulled out of next years WHCD citing a mean spirited atmosphere and one-sided hateful rhetoric it doesn’t want to be associated with. Several other publications are also considering withdrawing from the event as well. Trump supporters just saw the hateful attacks as proof that Trump was 100% correct to miss the event.

Yah, like practically everyone prior to the last half a century, where the racism has dwindled to just those who call themselves Democrats. Should we erase all our history to “whitewash” out the unsanitary bits? Should we pretend that all people with racists beliefs never existed? Seems like that’s the only way Leftists will be satisfied.

Nope--smart people realize that statues aren't history. If you want to learn history, read a book. Watch a documentary. Visit a museum.

Looking at art doesn't teach history.

But here the Smithsonian had to choose between the Powerful Libby Lobby in Media, Government, and Academia, run by Well-Off, Well-connected Democrat Women who control much PR, Budgets, and Donations the Museum depends on. Chicks like the Port Authority bitch.

Safer to insult the Black Pastors, instead.

We'll see, won't we. Trump just leaked a bunch of questions HIS lawyers wrote and lied saying that Mueller wrote them and leaked them. It seems Mueller threatened to subpoena him and then he relented on the interview request. He supposedly is obsessed with Cohen investigation. Personally, I think he's too dim to collude with Russia, but it's entirely possible that Russia was blackmailing him.

I just hope Mueller slow plays this enough to make it draw into the midterms

Nothing accomplished?

Tax Cuts
Supreme Court Appointment
Lowest Unemployment in 20 years
Lowest Black, Hispanic, Female Unemployment in US History
Rescinded Title XI guidance letter (HUGE)
Refugee influx down to a fraction of 2016 levels
Border Crossings down 70%.
Rescinded Coal and Oil exploitation bans
Liberated Americans from Prisons in Egypt and North Korea, Obama let them rot
Massive Stock market gains
Peace Talks between Koreas and US
Reciprocal Tariffs
"Muslim Ban"
Suing Sanctuary States
Corporate Socialist Obamney Care dismantled
ISIS ("JV Team") all but obliterated
Jerusalem recognized as the Capital of Israel
Kate's Law passed
Nixed DACA
GDP Growth above 3% (Will Never Happen Again, said pundits)
NAFTA Renegotiations started (The Canadians and Mexicans are fighting for FEWER North American Parts, which is what is taking so long)

That's with most of the Press, Democrats, Academia, Corporations, and a good solid third of the Republicans against him.

Sorry, that's a Fake News. The Dems were claiming they'd win the seat back. As they have in most of these special elections. Is it 2-8 now or 3-9? I forget. Remember GA-6?

Presidential Races aren't Congressional Races. And it's winner take all, so losing by 4 pts is still losing, big time. And state legislative runs, especially in the handful of Deep Blue jerrymandered districts, is a nothing burger. The Republicans are so dominant on the State level they can only lose seats at this point.

Like I told whatshis face, incumbent-free special mid-term year elections are a really bad gauge of support, and Democrats aren't exactly cleaning up everywhere.

You haven't listed a single historian who supports your view, just saying they do doesn't mean shit.

Museums are places where history is on display right? Places like the Smithsonian? Let's take a look at their list of historical artifacts...
https://historyexplorer.si.edu/artifacts

Whatta you know! On the first page there's a STATUE, that's on display as a historical artifact in one of the most prestigious museums in the world. Still sticking to your BS viewpoint?

What's the most important historical artifact from Easter Island? The Moai STATUES...
US House of Representatives collection of historical artifacts:
http://history.house.gov/Collection/Search?Classification=Historical+Artifacts&PreviousSearch=Search%2cHistorical+Artifacts%2cTitle&CurrentPage=11&SortOrder=Title&ResultType=Grid&Command=Prev

What's that I see, a trophy, something that has all the qualities of a STATUE. But it has writing, so maybe that's ok? I wonder if STATUES ever have any writing? Wait a minute...!?

Let's see what the definition of an artifact is:
An artifact (usually in American English) or artefact (British English) (from Latin phrase arte factum~ars skill + facere to make) is something made or given shape by man, such as a tool or a work of art, especially an object of archaeological interest.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artifact_(archaeology)

Hmm... Something made or given shape by man, such as a tool or work of art. Sounds an awful lot like a STATUE, doesn't it?
