Any more 3rd grade questions?

Yeah, any other rules? Does that make it a different game? Because that was your 3rd grade assertion.

I wonder if she’d yell racism when gets pulled over for speeding. It’s a liberal thing to yell that in tauntrums.

Behavioral penalties are enforced differently in different leagues, for sure. The womens' tennis tour will have different interpretations than the men's and certainly different than men 40 years ago.

When you can show us a modern player who behaves like this and doesnt get a penalty, get back to us.

We are all now stupider for having discussed ghetto tennis player behavior.

Well done--the insertion of ghetto, while not very subtle, is top notch.

She isn’t acting classy, that’s very ghetto to start settling disputes like it’s Jerry Springer drama.

Class is something left doesn’t get.

It's strange how you are constantly bringing up race in this thread when Serena's entire argument is based on gender inequality. No one's bringing up race except you.

Oh, and it's more like 96%.
41   WookieMan   2018 Sep 10, 3:37pm

I don't understand why anyone cares about this. It's a sport. It's a sport that pays well if you win one of the major tournaments. Male, female, black, white, etc. There's not one person here that wouldn't go ape shit over potentially losing $2M by not winning. https://www.usopen.org/en_US/visit/prize_money.html

She could have kicked the ref in the nuts and killed his first born. It's 2 fucking million dollars. More then most anyone here will make in their entire lifetime. I haven't even watched it but don't give a flip. People will do stupid shit for $2M.

And yes, I get she's already wealthy. Let me know the next time you're playing golf with $500 on the line and you don't get pissed if you lose?

Maybe they never behaved like serena last week.

Threatening to ruin a judge's career for calling an obvious coaching violation followed by a childish outburst, followed by accusing everyone of being racist/sexist. Yeah "I dindo nuttin, y'all racist" in the face of overwhelming guilt is ghetto af.

Oh no--they behaved much, much worse.

Hell, Rafi Nadal told the SAME referee that he would make sure he never worked another match again. No penalty, of course.

Maybe you can show me all the times Nadal was called ghetto? I'll be waiting with bated breath.
44   FortWayne   2018 Sep 10, 4:38pm

No one knows who the fuck that guy is. What are you waiting for equal outcomes across generations now? Most childish liberal idea I’ve seen. As childish and ghetto as Williams behavior.

“But officer others are speeding too, you can’t give me ticket unless you catch all other speeders”. I laugh at immaturity of the left.

Nobody knows who the fuck Rafael Nadal is? Are you kidding me?

If you don't know who he is then you most definitely shouldn't be commenting on anything tennis related.
47   FortWayne   2018 Sep 10, 4:49pm

But next time you get pulled over for speeding tell the cop that they are not treating you same as others. Let us know how that works out.

I ain’t bailing you out. Call a lawyer.

We're not talking about breaking the law here so the analogy is weak.
49   theoakman   2018 Sep 10, 5:30pm

It's not about what was said. It doesn't really matter what guys have said. Nick Krygios, or however you spell his name earns a suspension every other month. But what was more important is, that in most cases, the offender says something stupid to the judge and then, they either get warned or docked a point. Serena, kept carrying on and on and on and on and on and on and on, that's the problem. She was already warned, then, she got docked a point. And she just kept going and going and going and going.

54   anonymous   2018 Sep 10, 6:35pm

It's so juvenile to play the sexism card in that dispute with the judge. How does it make it ok for her to treat the judge with complete disrespect and call him names and then expect NOT to get a penalty? Who cares how men are treated...what she did was wrong and an embarrassment to the game. It shouldn't be about what you can get away with.

"Officer, I know I was driving drunk, but I know women who drive drunk who get off without a DUI. That's sexist and you shouldn't give me a DUI." Fuck off and don't drive drunk.

This is only a problem if her competition was allowed to do something she wasnt. Do you think refs call the same fouls in the NBA and WNBA? They could, but I'll assume they allow the men to play a bit rougher. (Assuming because I've never watched a WNBA game.)

The "coaching" was the warning, on the next penalty, she's automatically docked a point. Breaking a racket is not something the judge is at liberty to ignore. It's an automatic point. She was angry because, in her mind, she shouldn't have got the warning in the first place. After that, she continually continued her tirade. The next penalty was earned over time. The ump did nothing wrong and took a long long time to finally put her in her place.

Exactly right. Serena just couldn't let it go. She kept on him relentlessly, so he finally shut her down after taking repeated abuse.

No the coaching was the first code violation. The racket abuse violation was automatic, I agree.

Where the ump was wrong was not giving a warning to Serena that she needs to stop arguing and go play. If not, she will get another code violation and game penalty.

But that's not the point anyway--the hilarious part is how all the closet racists get off on this. How many times the word ghetto has been thrown around on this thread. Pictures of monkeys, etc.

That's exactly what I said. The 1st code violation results in a warning. The 2nd one, results in a penalty. I don't think he needed to give her an additional warning. That's the whole point of penalties. She got penalized. That was her warning to stop. She didn't. Simple as that.
62   Eman   2018 Sep 11, 3:57pm

As a tennis player who watched the game. Here's my observation.

Serena is not in the best shape of her life given she recently gave birth to a baby. She could outhit other girls but not Osaka. Serena really had no answer for Osaka's game. She was frustrated and took it out on the ref. Osaka also knocked Serena out of the Miami Open earlier in the year in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. Her record against Serena is 2-0.

It was a huge achievement for Serena to make it to the US Open final this quick after giving birth. It's unfortunate she and the fans ruined this young girl's victorious moment.

Approaching the third rail, why do you think racists compare blacks to apes or monkeys? The same isn't done for other targets of racists, for example, other colored people like Asians, Indians, etc.

Yes, the attention should be on Osaka. She won fair and square.

The final was a victory for women of color (or, colored women)!

What our fellow board members also seem to forget is that if she gets 2nd, she essentially loses $2M. I'm sure no one here has EVER said dumb shit when they're upset. Especially when it involves large sums of money.

Not saying what she brought up in her tantrum was appropriate or anything, but the bitching about what she did is just as childish. Kind of amazing this thread has gotten 69 comments. Well 70 now....

Actually, something similar happened in Virginia during a senate race. The Republican George Allen had his campaign events tailed by a Democrat Operative who was looking for any slip-up moments. George Allen of course saw this guy running around with his little video camera and once pointed him out, saying "This fellow here, over here with the yellow shirt. Macaca or whatever his name is. He's with my opponent, he's following us around everywhere." Well since the guy was had south Asian ancestry, this statement was blown all over the news a "racist." Although all humans are apes/primates, it seems only comparing a non-white to a non-human primate is "racist", even if said individual does flit about like a monkey.

I forgot about this. That seat was totally stolen by our dishonest hack media. Amazing how Republicans are held to such a higher standard. Every Republican that was running that cycle had a liberal reporter's microphone stuck in their faces and were made to address Allen's "racism".

One of the many great things I've been learning to love with the Trump administration is how he is changing the rules and ignoring or laughing at Liberals "demanding" they address this or that. Republicans should take notice.

OK, it was a softball question, and perhaps PC prevented you from hitting it out of the park. At the risk of being called a racist, while being a firm believer in debunking the very idea of "wrong think" or taboo subjects, the obvious reason is that for many people, Africans resemble apes or monkeys. And so it is quite easy then to put down Africans by implying they are less intelligent animals. For the record, I do not ascribe to such beliefs, but can see why folks see the resemblance.
71   HeadSet   2018 Sep 12, 8:07pm

for many people, Africans resemble apes or monkeys

I guess Africans resembles gorillas because gorillas have black coloration

Europeans resemble Neanderthals or snow monkeys and Gingers resemble Orangutans

Orientals resemble monkeys because of typical small build

We all resemble other species of primates, because we actually are apes.

Saying that, I do remember in High School when a teacher brought in a spider monkey to a pep rally. The Spider monkey had the exact same face as a black kid in the class. It was his black friends that first noticed the resemblance and gave the kid grief about it.

I'd say that middle eastern men resemble apes closer by body than blacks who show more resemblance in the face. And yes Europeans resemble more Neanderthals. Nothing rays cyst about that, just observation.
