http://www.salon.com/2014/05/10/the_bible_backs_same_sex_couples_point_by_point_why_the_haters_are_wrong/

From a theological perspective, marriage primarily involves a covenant-keeping relationship of mutual self-giving that reflects God’s love for us. The evidence we’ve considered here indicates that marriage is only secondarily—and not necessarily at all—about having biological children. Same-sex couples’ inability to procreate does not exclude them from fulfilling the Bible’s basis for marriage.

Some of the assless chap-wearing wide stance members of Patnet that doth protest too much probably will disagree, of course.

Be more wary of the world where no one follows the bible, because you'll never have enough laws to keep people from doing evil.

You mean everywhere? You probably aren't even aware of the many things in the bible that you don't comply with, and I'm not even talking about the wide stance stuff that you're obsessed with.

The Bible hasn't worked, that's for sure. If anything, it has been the cause of wars and human rights abuse. Throwing murderers in prison acts as a better deterrent.

It can't solve all the problems when people choose not to follow it. Be more wary of the world where no one follows the bible, because you'll never have enough laws to keep people from doing evil.

A lot of laws we have are laws to prevent the evils of the bible.....killing a disobedient son, stoning an adulteress to death, persecuting gays, burning witches at the stake, slavery. These can only be described as evil. We need common sense secular laws to prevent this evil.

Lesbians didn't have that issue, hence they attacked their obeseness.

Interesting. What about gay men?

Most jailbirds are not born with, or taught common sense.

Bible prohibits sodomy and warns against it.

Bible also prohibits murder, gluttony and greed.

It's an old document made to guide folks through life, to help them. Most people ignore quite a few things on that list these days.

Who needs a guide to tell them not to murder? It's supposed to be common sense.

There is no "common sense". Bible and the teachings of Christ gives a life meaning and creates common sense for a common man to follow in this world. It teaches a man to live a good life, a better life. A greater goal to strive for.

When we go to church they don't talk about stoning anyone or persecuting someone. Don't base your perception of the church on something you see in the movies, it's not like that.

I'm glad you don't talk about all that, but the Bible still does. All it means is you are not fully following the Bible, which is why you are a better person.
I actually don't have a problem with anyone believing the world is flat or anything else that catches their fancy, as long as they are not hurting anyone.

Bible is an old document. People are aware that some parts of it are no longer valid while the rest still holds true.

School curriculum changed with the times, so did the bible.

If you must pick and choose what to follow from the Bible, you are not following God's word anymore.
Welcome to secularism.

flat world held by Christian Europe ? Think again....more like non-Christans believed in Flat world.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_Earth

The Flat Earth model is an archaic belief that the Earth's shape is a plane or disk. Many ancient cultures have had conceptions of a flat Earth, including Greece until the classical period, the Bronze Age and Iron Age civilizations of the Near East until the Hellenistic period, India until the Gupta period (early centuries AD) and China until the 17th century. It was also typically held in the aboriginal cultures of the Americas, and a flat Earth domed by the firmament in the shape of an inverted bowl is common in pre-scientific societies.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myth_of_the_Flat_Earth

The myth of the Flat Earth is the modern misconception that the prevailing cosmological view during the Middle Ages saw the Earth as flat, instead of spherical.

During the early Middle Ages, virtually all scholars maintained the spherical viewpoint first expressed by the Ancient Greeks. From at least the 14th century, belief in a flat Earth among the educated was almost nonexistent, despite fanciful depictions in art, such as the exterior of Hieronymus Bosch's famous triptych The Garden of Earthly Delights, in which a disc-shaped Earth is shown floating inside a transparent sphere

Atheists and agnostics are such liars...

History[edit]
In Inventing the Flat Earth: Columbus and Modern Historians, Jeffrey Russell describes the Flat Earth theory as a fable used to impugn pre-modern civilization and creationism.[7][8]

James Hannam wrote:

The myth that people in the Middle Ages thought the earth is flat appears to date from the 17th century as part of the campaign by Protestants against Catholic teaching. But it gained currency in the 19th century, thanks to inaccurate histories such as John William Draper's History of the Conflict Between Religion and Science (1874) and Andrew Dickson White's A History of the Warfare of Science with Theology in Christendom (1896).

Atheists and agnostics championed the conflict thesis for their own purposes, but historical research gradually demonstrated that Draper and White had propagated more fantasy than fact in their efforts to prove that science and religion are locked in eternal conflict.

Thanks.

I'll keep this in mind next time I'm debating a conservative who rejects science as strongly as the OJ trial jury did.

thomaswrong, in your enthusiasm for copying and pasting Wikipedia, you forgot to change White's bio to make him an atheist or agnostic. It says he was Christian. Quick, go change that before anyone else notices.

Had we not had guidance from the Bibble but been as hedonistic a

society as the gay culture was back in the 70-80s.. half of the

population would have died from Aids.

Thats what happened to the gay communities/population in SF and NYC,

over half died off. The nations today who are least Christian have the

worst cases of Aids and death.

Wow that's the opposite of reality. For example, Uganda has a higher % of Christians than the USA, and the rate of HIV/AIDS in Uganda is more than 20 times higher than here. thomaswrong, for someone who claims to work in accounting, you're really bad at math. BTW, I can't help wondering again, why on earth do you pretend to have an Asian name - is it your idea of a false flag attack, to make Asians seem like wrongheaded Christian fundamentalists who are bad at math? Did you lose your job in accounting, to someone who was better at math and happened also to be Asian, and did that launch your misguided crusade?

I recall some downright hedonistic hetero behaviors, particularly in the 1970s. This was among straights who did not follow the Bibble, of course.

But what's interesting is that these non-Bibblical straights did not get teh AIDS, so I'm not sure you can put it all down to the Bibble.

But there's also the issue of why, if you associate promiscuity and multiple partners with disease and death, you would oppose marriage for anyone.

The nations today who are least Christian have the

worst cases of Aids and death.

Which nations have the worst cases of death? I have seen bad cases of death, but where are the worst cases of death?

What? It's the ancient people that had more understanding of ancient writings, because they spoke it. Today, people just interpret books like the bible any way they want. The Jehovah Witnesses figured from ancient scriptures the world was gonna end and even gave dates. They were wrong 9 times and still don't give up.

Many ancient cultures? No. ALL ancient cultures thought the world was flat. They did not have the knowledge to know better. Even Jesus thought the world was flat, because he did not have 1st grade modern education.
