The moral of the story in Ferguson (and elsewhere), don't break the law (commit robbery), don't physically assault a cop, don't try and take a cop's gun away, and you might just live to see tomorrow.
If I was in Brown's place, I would not have been shot because I would have simply obeyed Officer Wilson. There would have been no looting, no rioting and everyone would be going around their day to day affairs.

Yeah, me too. But the flip side of holding your powder is that it doesn't prevent the cop from doing something unjust nonetheless. And probably you (and I'm assuming you're white too) have been unfairly treated by a cop despite having done the right thing. I know I have. That's when things start to get dicey. If, by doing the right thing, you don't get treated fairly in return, and it happens over and over and over again, people lose respect for LEOs.
If I was unfairly treated by LEO's, I would hate the cops too. But that does not give anyone the right to disobey a cop, attack them, or start rioting because someone disagrees with the courts. A white cop shooting a black man is not murder by default.

Not to dispute the stupidity of people looting and setting fires - and the questionable choice of a 292-pound 6'4" aggro man as a cause - on the plus side, the people in Ferguson have been known to actually fight the cops. Compared with the Tea Party, which has merely created new abortion laws and tax breaks for Paris Hilton, this is actually action.
What if the courts and government took your money and handed to bankers? Doesn't there come a point at which it's time to fight back?
Seems like the Ferguson PD is mostly an organization funding itself through petty fines on blacks.

One would think that a private business would step in and provide security. They should let the free market take care of this.

Wouldn't it be better to have the Korean Grocers keeping looters out of the stores while the National Guard mows looters down from behind? A flanking maneuver like that should take care of more of 'em.

The Koreans did that during the LA riots. That guy who had his store looted again instead believed in and appealed to "human kindness". I suspect the 3rd time he will be armed with an M134. I prefer to uphold the rule of law with a well trained (not necessarily more) police force because you will be the first one screaming murder after the private security goons mowed down every single looter blackwater style without warning. This guy pays taxes, works hard and now has to rebuild his store the 2nd time, he deserves protection.

That's the great thing about asian immigrants. They don't fuck around, the day they decide to gentrify their local ghetto it's lights out for looters. Asian neighborhoods are amongst the safest in the bay area.

Oh well, window repair men... plywood makers.. and construction companies will all make a lot of money off the rebuilding. So it's not a total loss.

Most Businesses Destroyed in Ferguson Minority Owned
FERGUSON, Missouri----KMOV-TV reports that the majority of stores that were damaged or completely destroyed during Monday night's violent riots in Ferguson were minority owned. Fire Departments around the St. Louis County Area put out 25 structural fires caused by vandals and looters following the announcement from the grand jury that Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson would not be indicted in the death of Mike Brown.
Most of the damaged businesses were on West Florissant Avenue and included: Walgreens, Little Caesers Pizza, Autozone, Beauty Town, Title Max, Family Dollar Store, and O'Reilly Auto Parts. Small-business owner Natalie Dubose was in tears when she realized her cake store was attacked by vandals.
Dubose, a mother of two, previously told CNN, "If I can't open my doors every morning, I can't feed my kids in the evening. Just don't burn my shop down, don't destroy it."

Homes in the neighborhood are very affordable - $20,000, so the losses to insurance companies should be minuscule.
