Um because it's $6.00 a box and they don't have any money!
Good Gravy! Am I the only one paying attention?
Cereal is y'alls staple from the past, where your government told you that ten servings of bread and cereal was the basis for a healthful diet.
Millennials just aren't dumb enough to buy into such nonsense

Cereal is healthful, Super Sugar CoaCoa fruity crisps smothered in more sugar is not healthful.

Yeah, cause they are just so darn smart.
...."But nearly 40% of millennials in a recent survey said eating cereal was "inconvenient ... because they had to clean up after eating it." And the fact that young people aren't eating cereal because "bowls don't clean themselves" should worry both cereal companies and "anyone who has a stake in this country's future," according to the Post. "Is a generational shift in how families raise their kids turning even the most mundane of responsibilities, like doing the dishes, into unthinkable nuisances?"
This reminds me why I wanted to open a restaurant that caters strictly to single people. There would be no tables or chairs required. All of the restaurant guests would stand and eat over a kitchen sink or snack while looking at the opened refrigerator door.
I want to open up a vegan restaurant called "Graze", where I just dump salad and vinagrette on the floor and let the vegans crawl around eating lettuce off the ground like chickens or cattle.

Sounds fantastic. Can the meet eaters come in and eat the vegans, when they are done? Trump and Cruze will no doubt argue about who can eat the biggest vegan. Jeb! will engrave 'vegan killer' on his pistol, but no one will believe he has the cajones to go through with it.
The millenials will only eat the vegans if someone else kills, cooks, dehydrates, and packages them into single serving 'power bars.' Trader Joes will no doubt step up to the plate and provide this service for a price they can afford with the help of credit.
If they don't feel like washing a cereal bowl why just not punt until the evening when they can wash it with the dinner items?
Millennials appear to be very interested in Nutrition on average. Not that their habits are great, but they mostly got these habits from lazy parents who were not at all interested in Nutrition or healthy eating. So in a sort of backlash against their parents inaction, they are seeking out information on how to cook and eat healthful food. Cooking shows are very popular. Foodie restaurants pop up all over the place and are popular.
My wife teaches Nutrition at the local university, and the intro to Nutrition class is just amazingly popular, running 32 sections at 50-55 students per section. Per semester.
That's 3200 students taking the same class every year.
And most of them seem to think it's the best class they've taken so far (given most are freshmen or sophomores.).
I'm just saying perhaps they aren't eating cereal because carbs aren't the best in the morning. Protein lasts longer and burns steady. Eggs and a half bagel with cream cheese are a better choice, and surprisingly fast to make. Our kids eat protein every morning as well as fruit.

Yeah, and a lot of the off brand cereals taste terrible.
Anybody notice how thin those boxes are nowadays? Height and width the same, but depth, not so much.
I think they drink smoothies instead.
Yeah, but unless you are buying your smoothie out or throwing away the container that you made it in (not very practical) - then there would still be dishes to clean ... the horror of it all.

I'm skeptical of the survey.

That would be cool, but according to the article having to wash the dish was one of the main items mentioned as to why they weren't eating cereal in the morning. Personally, for dietary reasons I have oatmeal with flaxseed, honey, Cinnamon, blueberries and almond milk every morning - yup, EVERY morning. I use to like things like bacon and eggs, omelet, some pancakes - but no, anymore I NEED to have my morning oatmeal mix. Oh, and gads, there are dishes that I do (or at least soak till the night) after I get done eating.
I really hope that the kids are interested in good nutrition and good dietary habits/ideas. I fear they are just lazy and want someone to fix it and clean up after them. Like they seem to want much of life to be.

To me that is reason enough not to buy their product
Survey says Millennials don't eat cereal - but why??
They don't wake up until noon because they don't have jobs.
Okay, so I don't care that they don't eat cereal, neither do I (for my own reasons) - but the reason (or I guess one of the main reasons) that they don't eat it. Cause they then have to clean the cereal bowls. REALLY? I mean REALLY? They have gotten SO dang lazy that rinsing and possibly washing a cereal bowl is just too much effort. Oh my goodness - and you don't think the future of this country is screwed???
