Household income is a known canard as the divorce rate in the 70s had more to do with the household income than anything else. The corollary would also be true as many well to do households have more than one income per household.

Very difficult for any mature country to have 5% GDP in a consistent fashion maybe for a short term Jolt with massive stimulus but that can't last forever.

There is no real decline, except for Older people leaving the work force and then collecting S.S., it's this why employment to population and wages run hand in hand

Why in 2016 wages are at all time highs, the data runs of the government lag so you need real time data adjusted to population

If someone worked a higher pay job then got fired and worked for less, then that person has had a decline

For some sectors ... mostly at the bottom, you have no wage increased to inflation or Cost of living.

Min wage roughly 25%-30% of country gets paid in that $7.25 -$15 dollar level

That is where lack of wage growth comes in

This is why I always found it silly that people are worried about college educated Americans, who are buying cars, buying homes and creating household formation for growth.

Any focus needs to be from high school drop outs, non college educated Americans and those who don't have any trade show skill.

Work from the bottom up, don't even worry about the middle up theory.
