Here we go with the "Markets in Freefall because of the Evil People who rejected our Enlightened, Wise Candidate who will further impoverish them." Just like #Brexit!

Good Night and may the Cosmic God of Irony/Karma/Kek bless you all.

For it was foretold in the Prophecy of Kek, that the Frog King of the Darkness before the Don Dawn, would defeat Mammon, She of the Pantsuit

Actually the futures are already recovering, down less than 3%. Will be like brexit.

639   turtledove   2016 Nov 9, 12:09am

Glad I waited up. Quite a day. Truly never thought I'd see the words "Donald Trump Elected President." I just kept thinking that the polls couldn't be THAT off. On my way home, I was thinking that we were about to elect our first woman president and tried to focus on her positive points. I believed the results would be closer than the polls suggested, but WOW!! He actually did it!

Anyway, I told you I was bad at predicting these kinds of things. My saying she would win, pretty much guaranteed the opposite would happen. So, for those who wanted him to win... you're welcome.

What's going through Trump's head right now?

I think by now even die-hard Trump supporters are getting a little bit worried what it is they have done. Let's hope for the best. He can't be any worse than W, can he?

643   Peter P   2016 Nov 9, 12:22am

Trump will be much better than W.

Unfortunately, the world is also in a worse shape. Much worse.

Totally agree. This country and the globe are in an economic shit storm, and it's going to take a lot of effort and time and cooperation to get us out of it. It's similar to Obama inheriting the Great Recession, except the Fed have already used most of the weapons in their arsenal to stave off economic contraction. This is the time for real, structural change...no other way out.

He's known for challenging the status quo, breaking significant new ground, and winning. I know you want a guarantee of success, but that's not the way life works. Every candidate is a risk...gotta do your best with the info you have, place your bets, and roll the dice. Hillary would be just more of the same.

647   justme   2016 Nov 9, 12:30am

About 1hr ago, the US stock index futures reversed course and are now down ONLY around 1.5% or so. Did Trump place a call to Janet Yellen at the FRB? I sure hope not. Or did she act alone? Or what?

Don't really care that much about the person (though what significant new ground he's broken or what history of winning he has is not apparent to me outside of a surprise election victory); it's the policies that they bring with them that concerns me.

716 comments so far in such a short period of time, and I bet the number of distinct users for this thread would be interesting too.

I'll be searching YouTube for some spicy Hitler videos. This election should be good for several good ones.

Hungarian PM Orban hails Trump victory as 'great news'

BUDAPEST, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban congratulated U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on his election victory on Wednesday, with the words "What a great news. Democracy is still alive" posted on his Facebook page.

Orban said in July that Trump's plans on migration and foreign policy were "vital" for Hungary, whereas those of rival Democrat Hillary Clinton were "deadly".

Orban was then the first European head of state to express a clear preference for either of the two candidates.

Once they check out the personal income tax they'd be paying elsewhere, they'll change their minds. This happens every election cycle. Pu$$ies with no principles.

Waiting for the Clinton concession speech. The elevator-type waiting music is schizophrenic. Something nondescript, then Sousa marches, then classical orchestral music, then some weird action-film music fitting for a British spy thriller (TV version), then something that sounds like a RUSSIAN marching band, replete with sad homeland undertones of the WW2 variety, back to British spy thriller again, Sousa again, ...., Metallica Joe Satriani, Satriani again!! They turned down the volume. Beyonce?? (suggestion: If you want it you then should'a put a ballot in it.), Ain't no mountain high enough (seems fitting), some reggae tune, more reggae (suggestion: No woman, no cry), Bruce Springsteen, some r&b song, applause, Tim Kane is speaking, Hillary speaking, looking almost chipper, I sense a "don't stop thinking about tomorrow" coming on soon? No, did not happen. No music afterwards, except ABC playing a 5min long version of their telegraph/typewriter news/urgency anthem.

What's next? A parodically misplaced Neil Young:Keep On Rocking In The Free World? The live SNL version of that song would be my campaign music if I ever ran for anything.

PS: Thank god they are not playing that incredibly lame new Bon Jovi song, This House Is Not For Sale. My god, the guy was never much of a genius, but the amount of pandering he is getting into is just staggering.

Yeah. I know. This is just a post-election rant.

I reckon the price to get either Clinton to speak at your Rotary Club Luncheon is now about 300 bucks.
