Der Tagesspiegel reported that the suspect, whom the paper said was Afghan or Pakistani, was known to police for multiple minor offenses,

That should be enough to throw them out.

Woop, here it is! --the end of the big dream.

Whoop, there it went!

There would have been more electors defecting FROM Hillary, but there were laws in Maine that require electors to support the pledged candidate. Some states have laws where an elector can't run for somebody who ran in the primaries.

I won't need it. I'm proud of our 5 TIME DRAFT DODGING commander in chief.
Damn! Now I know why he ran for prez. The coward won't have to face the enemy & look him in the eye.
He'll send others to fight & DIE.

I don't see how it works. I took an Uber for $3 as an alternative to driving (gas+aggravation) and parking (rates) this weekend to go shopping. Shopping is something I never do, as I don't support our economy in any other way besides taxes, registration, insurance, Fuck Me fees, and government Here Ya Go's. Between our nascent pubic transport in LA and the in(s)anity of the traffic, Uber can't possibly be making anything. I've noticed the drivers have gone from "Boomer Retiree Looking for Extry Cash during Boredom" to "Jose No Answer de Fone when Lies He is Picking Up Gringo but Stalling So Can Cancel Ride, Hee Heee!".

78395   AllTruth   2016 Dec 19, 9:20pm

Uber loses 41% on every fare, every mile driven, all the time.

They are still going based on the initial 15 billion in investment they raised in their fundraising rounds (private equity & silicon valley individual investors).

The Answer to 2016 is 1683.

78397   zzyzzx   2016 Dec 19, 9:45pm

OK, so if I understand this correctly, if I want to help bankrupt a bunch of smug SV assholes quicker, I should ride Uber as much as possible. Right?

Obama and Clinton tried to follow the 13th commandment:

RULE 13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. Don’t try to attack abstract corporations or bureaucracies. Identify a responsible individual. Ignore attempts to shift or spread the blame. The real action is in the enemy’s reaction. The enemy properly goaded and guided in his reaction will be your major strength.

I'm not a big fan of trying to time the market. There are many players with access to information sooner than you, that have more experience than you, that control large accounts that sway the market whenever they buy and sell, and that participate in illegal insider trading daily and don't get prosecuted for it. Swimming with these sharks will most likely result in getting eaten.

That said, ARLP has performed worse over the past 10 years than the S&P 500 index. Sure, it had a lot of times where it was profitable to buy or short the stock, but for each dollar made by the winners, more than a dollar was lost by the losers. It's a zero-sum game (negative when costs are applied).

In contrast, the S&P 500 index has done well without the risk of being screwed over by another zero-sum game player with more experience, better access to trades, and insider information. Plus, such players spend all their time trading stocks and the rest of us have actual work to do.

Here's a graph of ARLP vs the S&P 500 over the past 10 years. No cherry-picking of data.

Remember, the best return on your investment comes from lottery tickets, if you know the winning numbers in advanced. The problem is that you don't.

I talked to a Vietnam vet on Sunday. He explained why his hands shook so badly he could barely hold his coffee cup. Agent Orange. He had wanted to go to college out of high school and become a veterinarian. Instead he got drafted and had to serve two years in hell that fucked him up for good.
Considering That Vietnam was a war that wasn't exactly legal and certainly not necessary, I'd give draft dodgers a break on that one.

It would have been 8 total defections from Hillary if some states didn't require their electors to vote as pledged:

In Minnesota, Sanders-supporting Democratic elector Muhammad Abdurrahman reportedly refused to cast a vote, so according to state law, he was replaced with an alternate who did vote for Clinton.
In Maine, Democratic elector David Bright voted for Bernie Sanders at first, but his vote was ruled out of order, and he switched it to Clinton during a revote.
In Colorado, Democratic elector Michael Baca attempted to cast his vote for John Kasich (as part of the failed scheme to convince Trump electors to back a moderate Republican), but he was dismissed and replaced by an alternate, who voted for Clinton.

Trump lost the popular vote by the widest margin in the history of the country, and, on top of that, his electoral college victory was not by a historic margin.

And Hillary still could not beat him. LOL.

I dispute Hillarys popular vote. Her and Obama made her popular vote illegitimate.
She cheated so badly they had to call off the recount in Detroit. Had it contined, the DNC was worried Trumps team would have spotted a pattern.

Yep, most professional money managers don't beat the S&P over longer time periods. The "smart" money loses most of the time.

Trump lost the popular vote by the widest margin in the history of the country, and, on top of that, his electoral college victory was not by a historic margin.

A) The President is not elected by the National Popular Vote, never has been, and Trump is not the only person elected President to been so.
B) It isn't a victory by an historic margin, but it's also NOT an historically close victory, either.

Keep trying to spin! Let's remember the Democrats, the Hillary Campaign, the MSM and most pollsters were discussing how much Hillary's margin of victory in the Electoral College was going in the days and weeks prior to late evening, Tuesday November 8th.

Instead, Trump won several states he wasn't supposed to and contested several others where it was assumed he'd lose handily.

The Dem's platform was that Lawyers, Bankers, and Teachers are doing great, and if you aren't you're a Methhead Misogynist, so let's stay the course.

78423   Ceffer   2016 Dec 20, 12:48pm

It's just an old promise Obama made to his dealer in the olden days.

The release of the drug thugs don't bother me, it's that Obama gave the Congressional Medal of Honor to fifty trannies who used women's bathrooms.

a) You could do a little research before stating your argument

Again, Trump is NOT the first person to lose the national popular vote and win the election. You might want to Fact Check the Neoliberal Rag, the Guardian.

It's circling the toilet since Rusbridger left. Now it's run by some dopey SJW and all they have is single cat lady click bait articles about how hard it is to be a non-profit/government employed 30-something female on 60k pounds/year.

78426   MisdemeanorRebel   2016 Dec 20, 4:31pm

The Optimates caused Caesar, both indirectly (their refusal of reform and looting of the treasury) and directly (by pretty much announcing he'd get a show trial with death as the penalty when he left his command returned to Rome.)

Seldom do you hear about Sulla, the right sonofabitch Optimate who was the Dictator a few decades before Caesar. Unlike Caesar, he didn't offer clemency to his enemies.

Are these structural losses or tax writeoffs?
