That is the thing. Investors are ready to invest in America, now. In Trump we trust.

Yep, just like they (the 47% of Obama voters Romney referenced) did during the 7 year Obama recovery.
Oh wait....

So you're confirming Trump hasn't done anything for these so called 'forgotten people'. I agree.

- 54 billion in military spending goes where? Virginia/D.C. defense contractors. Great. Why? What new threat? Yemen?
- De-regulation does what? Increase wages? No. Create jobs? No. Line the pockets of corporations? You bet.
- 1 trillion in domestic spending on roads. I can get behind that. Know who won't? Republicans. "Public and private" companies to be funded = corruption in the Trump-era.

Ironman says

You have that confused with the massive amounts of college debt and national debt Obama laid on them.

See proposed spending above. Trump has a no affordable college education plan and 'balanced budget' wasn't even part of his pretense of political vocabulary last night. That's actually a big departure. He is no fiscal conservative.

Ironman says

Finally, you're waking up. Are you mad because you missed the 3000 point run-up since the election? Maybe you need to get into your company 401K?

I'm well taken care of there. I didn't vote out of pure self interest.
I voted for sanity, decorum, and American exceptionalism. So, not Trump.

Strategist says

The question is......are we better off now, than we were 4 months ago?

We rush to ruin, waving our flag, shouting platitudes, and shunning intellect as we descend and retreat. Trump is erraticism, divisiveness, and anything but steady as he rips the breaks off the economy and pushes us down a hill. Things will feel good initially, until we crash.

Would not a true believer be a hypocrite for owning and operating a car?

No. They would be a hypocrite for commuting 70 miles each day in a gas guzzler, but forgoing a car is something that a dedicated few will do. Believing that this is a problem and thinking that the government should do what it can to help find and implement solutions is completely congruent with using the typical tools of today.

Climate change is first and foremost a moral issue. It is the greatest moral issue of our time.

Would not a true believer be a hypocrite for owning and operating a car?

No. I'm all for phasing out combustible engines, a carbon tax, a methane tax, and an elimination of coal power plants, a major source of pollution.

The typical climate change denier response is always the false dichotomy that if you cannot immediately eliminate every single bit of pollution, you should not do anything to limit pollution. This is utter bullshit. It's like saying that if you cannot immediately stop all terrorism, you should do absolutely nothing about terrorism.

There are very real, concrete steps we can take to limit and ultimately eliminate pollution, mitigate climate change, and stop the wholesale mass extinction going on right now. To say we should do nothing because we cannot immediately convert over all our infrastructure away from gas-powered cars is an immoral and disingenuous claim.

81512   Dan8267   2017 Mar 2, 7:46am

Hater says

Would you agree that overpopulation is the main contributer?

Main? No. The fact that pollution generation is not remotely distributed proportional to population density empirically disproves that hypothesis.

However, overpopulation for a given technology level most certainly is a factor. Nonetheless, parasitic and short-sighted financial incentives are the main factor.

I would still rate this at the rumor level:
http://acprimetime.com/hard-rock-buy-taj-mahal-casino-atlantic-city-boardwalk/

Hard Rock Entertainment is buying the shuttered Trump Taj Mahal casino on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.

As ACprimetime reported last week, all indications (plenty of trusted tips) pointed to Hard Rock having substantial interest in buying this massive Atlantic City property from owner Carl Icahn. An obvious clue was witnessing the popular Hard Rock Cafe keeping up operations with their Boardwalk front property, even as the adjacent casino hotel was shut down.

Neighboring Steel Pier and their soon-to-be erected Observation Wheel will certainly benefit from this great news. On the other hand, we believe Glenn Straub’s shuttered REVEL property just took a valuation hit. As for SHOWBOAT HOTEL, owner Bart Blatstein & his Tower Investments along the Boardwalk are looking rosier.

Billionaire Carl Icahn is selling the shuttered Trump Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City to Hard Rock International and two New Jersey investors. Hard Rock International Announces Partnership with Morris and Jingoli Families to Purchase Atlantic City’s Taj Mahal

Hard Rock International will be majority owner of the rebranded Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City in partnership with the Morris and Jingoli families. The group will invest more than $300 million to purchase, substantially renovate and re-open the casino.

The partnership, majority controlled by Hard Rock International, will transform the existing Taj Mahal with a complete remodel and rebrand of the property that is located on 17-acres of prime Boardwalk real estate, offering guestrooms with views of the city and ocean in the building once named the 8th wonder of the world.

81516   indigenous   2017 Mar 2, 7:57am

I agree, FDR created regime uncertainty which kept investors at bay throughout his reign. This had more to do with the great depression than anything else.

Similar to what we are seeing now.

The caveat is if he goes through with the tariffs, that would be huge mistake. The tax credits will also create a boom if they get though congress.

Trump Taj Mahal purchased by Hard Rock

http://www.philly.com/philly/business/Hard-Rock-in-deal-to-buy-Trump-Taj-Mahal.html

No sale price was announced, but Hard Rock International said its group would invest more than $300 million to buy, renovate, and reopen the 17-acre resort.

Mayor Don Guardian said Hard Rock brought the needed expertise in the gaming industry. It was a "perfect fit for Atlantic City right now," he added.

Hard Rock International runs 11 casinos, 24 hotels, and 174 cafes around the world.

Guardian said he expected a grand reopening in the summer of 2018.

"It's a tired property. It was the jewel of Atlantic City when it opened in [1990]. Now it needs work," he said.

President Trump has not been materially involved in recent years, other than allowing his name to be used.

Forgive me for not sharing your enthusiasm regarding AC.

I once stayed at a hard rock hotel in Orlando near universal. I have to say, I was impressed by the prices but not the overall trashy crowd that frequents what is otherwise an expensive hotel.

Breakfast was quite good though and the fitness center and sauna were decent.

Other than that, not worth 300+ per night.

Still I think at best, they will put some competitive pressure on borgata but outside short term, doubt they will cause people to cruise up from Baltimore, PA, NY, New England in any significant numbers

Prior to borgata best restaurant in casino was hooters at trump Marina; hard rock from culinary standpoint still would be below borgata

If you spent $300 a night to stay in AC, then you don't know how to shop. My stay at the Taj last June was less than $100, even with parking. You are forgetting that Hard Rock probably paid very little for the Taj, and there is always going to be a demand for rooms at the beach. At least in Atlantic City, the demand is year round on weekends as well. You can't say that for anyplace else on the shore.

How did the Hooters in Trump Marina compare to the Hooters in the Tropicana? Quite frankly, I'd rather go to Adam Good Sports Bar if I am at the Trop.

Hater says

No. True believer is a person that instead of debating the facts calls the other person an idiot or a denier for not believing climate models that foretell massive human extinction if we don't cut back on carbon production.

That's hyperbole. However, one does not "debate facts". One uses facts in a debate. The facts are verifiable. You don't get to make up your own.

It is a fact that man-made climate change is happening, that it is increasing exponentially, and that it has already resulted in real world consequences like the lost of inhabited land and changes to agriculture.

Dan8267 says

Hater says

like that

I stand by my statement. It is empirically true.

Hater says

Are there any practical solutions that the whole world will agree to?

The whole world doesn't agree that rape, genocide, slavery, or terrorism should be illegal. Does that mean we should not do anything to stop any of those things?

If it helps you, just think of climate change as Islamic terrorism. I guarantee that climate change and pollution will take far more years off your life personally than terrorism will.

If I took ran a factory at my house and dumped all the waste onto your yard and it seeped into your drinking water and caused you health problems, you'd probably be pretty pissed off at me. The fact that doing so saves me a lot of money and thus increases my profit margins doesn't really matter to you. Why should it be any different for coal power plants? They release pollution that enters the food supply and causes all sorts of health problems.

Hater says

I agree, pollution bad.

Do you agree it's bad enough to be criminalized and/or require polluters to pay fines or sin taxes to make up for the incredible amount of damage they do?

That's a real step to fighting climate change and all other environmental problems.

Ahhh ... but lots of Xians believe humans are all special un-meltable snowflakes, God's chosen creature, made in his image, and the Earth is a gift for Human use. This is justification for the disregard to the natural environment. It's "ours" to do with as we please. God will provide all to the faithful, and when the great revealing takes place, the faithful will be rewarded.

Nature has fallen. Nature is irremediably corrupted.
In fact every natural impulse is a sin in that tradition (and its cousins).

Yep, that's what the big picture (price) seems to be saying $950+/-. My suggestion is let price confirm and close
above 1275-1300 depending on price reaction in that zone and buy on confirmation then you are likely to see some
profit opportunity in the 1650-1725 area. If anyone actually bought based on this post they are either in the red or
near break even. 3 choices sell at a very small profit or loss or if you feel lucky hold.

Check In Date: 09/XX/2017

Check Out Date: 09/XX/2017 (2 days later)

Room Preference: NON-SMOKING, K

Number of Rooms: 1

Adults: 2

Children: 0

Subtotal: $62.40

Resort/Other Fees: $57.42

Taxes: $15.24

Room Total: $135.06

And that's for 2 nights in early September when it's good beach weather. That even includes parking! Last year it was about the same money and I even got a corner king room with a huge tub.

Book early and book often. If you book directly with the hotel it's easy to cancel if you find a better deal or if you think the weather is going to stick 3 days out.

To be honest, that was 5 years ago and I haven't bothered to look for a room since I've had kids. Maybe they are finally coming around to dropping prices. Sure, I've had deals here and there where I get a $50 room at AC but in Vegas, it's available all the time with no effort at all at the drop of a hat.

Patrick's intent is not limitation of freedom, but his tool, government, is only about limiting freedom. His proposals would be more obviously freedom loving if they included words like:

abolish
annul
interpose
disband
burn down

81536   missing   2017 Mar 3, 5:28pm

Over the long term short rates also fluctuate, so there is most of the time positive correlation.

But I agree that many factors determine the long rates and if they start to go up it will be a long and messy process.

By the way, the forex market also affects the rates. So when China intervenes to defend its currency, long term US treasury rates go up. This did not exist 20 years ago.
