What's most interesting about this is that the crew had a security guard attached to them for this event. How many other cities need protection for news crews just to report on a strike negotiation? I felt Oakland wasn't safe before, but this shooting confirms my opinion. Wow.

That's how it is in the jungle.

No Illegal Emigrants or Homeless Persons were hurt in said provocation and nobody with street cred was disrespected.

Won't somebody put a stop to all this White Supremacist Violence?

That is dedication to your craft. The retired officer draws a six figure pension, but continues to work a private security detail. Hope for a speedy recovery and maybe some R&R on a quiet beach somewhere.

Why weren't the reporters packing?

@APOCALYPSEFUCKisShostikovitch They did in fact have an armed guard, but in Oakland, that just isn't enough:

The KPIX 5 crew was gathering interviews near the Oakland Library around 5 p.m. last night when two men got out of a car and held up the crew at gunpoint, stealing their camera equipment, the Bay Area CBS affiliate reported. An armed security guard for the crew was shot in the upper leg but appeared to be in stable condition when police and medical officers arrived and took him to the hospital.

The guard told police he fired several shots at the suspects before hitting the ground. As the network reported, police located potential suspects after one entered a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds and the driver of a similar car as the one involved in the robbery was involved in a brief high-speed chase. The Alameda County sheriff’s department told KPIX 5 that a 21 year old man was arrested as the shooting suspect late last night.

The best way to protect yourself from violence is simply to stay away from black neighborhoods. It is unfortunate, but it is nonetheless true, and it is true for black people, white people, all kinds of people.

All the lies ever told by liberals will not change that one simple fact. What is decried as "racism" is simply the desire to not be assaulted.

They should post enough "gun-free zone" signs in Oakland. It will decrease gun violence.

Because when seconds matter, help is only minutes away.

It was probably done by some of the striking teachers during a break. They were showing their students how to execute a successful heist. Next week: successful pimpin' 'n dealin', while claiming you didn' do nuffin.

Yes. At first, I thought this was an old thread because the same basic thing happened about 20 months ago:

https://www.mercurynews.com/2017/07/19/film-crew-robbed-at-gunpoint-in-downtown-oakland/

The head of the crew said he was thrown up against a wall and that he and the other victims were forced to lay on the pavement, where the two robbers put guns to their heads and threatened them

Chris Burns, 37, an independent director of photography for the AwesomenessTV production “This Is Summer,” a reality show that follows eight 17-year-olds growing up in the Bay Area, said Wednesday the robbery “was really, really scary. It’s the most terrifying robbery I’ve ever been a part of.”

Burns, who lives in the Bay Area, said the robbery has prompted Awesomeness officials to decide they won’t film again in Oakland and that wherever they do film there will be either armed private security or police.

At the end of the Black Panther movie, Wakanda established a mission in Oakland. Presumably to try to teach the residents the values of higher civilization?
I laughed and laughed.
People in the theater gave me strange looks.
What a good time!

The perps had to make a living somehow during the strikes, since they didn't have students to turn out or buy drugs.

You see how low wages hurt everybody?
