GOP legislators (140) voted for a bill drafted by business groups and Democrats which provides a green card giveaway to 300,000 Indian contract workers and dramatically increases the incentives for more Indian graduates to take college graduate jobs in the United States.
The 365- to-65 vote means the bill moves to the Senate, where GOP Senators are pushing a matching giveaway bill which is backed by Democrat Senator and presidential hopeful, Sen. Kamala Harris. Only 57 of 197 GOP legislators — and only eight Democrats — present voted against the giveaway.

The GOP’s House leader, Rep. Kevin McCarthy, voted for the giveaway to Indian outsourcing workers.

The bill also helps U.S. real-estate investors by extending the green-card giveaway to the Chinese leaders who use the EB-5 program to buy green cards for their families.

White House officials may also argue the bill has nothing to do with immigration and amnesties, but only deals with visa workers who are supposedly needed by high-tech companies. In practice, there is no shortage of high tech workers– only a shortage of CEOs and investors willing to spend the money needed to hire some of the many American professionals employed at other companies.

In the Senate, GOP leaders may choose to block the giveaway bill, in part, because it is being pushed by Sen. Kamala Harris, who may be the Democrats’ challenger in 2020.

The Democrats’ giveaway bill was also by a new wave of groups created by Americans who say their incomes have been slashed by companies’ use of the green card system to attract and pay cheap white-collar labor from India. During the last year, these professionals have organized into several groups, including the American Workers Coalition, doctorswithoutjobs.com, ProUSworkers, No on H.R. 1044, and The Multinational Coalition Against H.R. 1044/S. 386. In 2018, these American opponents of the green card giveaway bill helped defeat Kansas GOP Rep. Kevin Yoder, who supported a prior version of the legislation.

Trump better veto this shit if it passes the Senate. That's all I have to say.

Indians here also try to pull "Bombay Bazaar" type crap - they think that everything, including their grades (irrespective of performance) is negotiable.

I’m sure you know being in higher education.
They also seem to be super social climbers, need everyone to recognize them as elite status, better than you anyway. I surmise that this attitude comes from the caste system culture, where how you are born matters tremendously, and those who are born to higher castes just KNOW they are better than anyone lower caste or foreigners who are casteless and thus lowest caste in their minds.
And that’s just the Hindus. Don’t get me started on the Indian Muslims. I think if I had to pick an Indian culture for preference I’d go with the Sikhs. Not that I’m into turbans and beards, but their general outlook is otherwise very good, they’re monotheists, have a culture of self defense and self reliance, and take care of each other.
It’s a shame that they also get confused with Muslims by many Americans who aren’t very informed.

I want to reiterate before the backlash I’m guessing I’ll receive. Illegal immigration should not be tolerated, at ALL.

But H1-B and green cards are for LEGAL immigration, are they not?
Whatever you say about Indian universities, an Indian engineer is more educated than the average Joe Schmoe in middle America, even if they don't match American trained engineers. This is immigration of higher IQ individuals.

Also keep in mind American workers would have to compete against them even if they don't immigrate. Most likely if they don't come to American companies, American companies would go to them in India. Or Indian companies would get them, working on competing products.

Poor tech bros may complain about their salaries (really?), but flat wages means more growth for the American tech industry.
So?
Maybe instead we should complain we don't import more doctors too.

300,000 visas. That's one for every thousand Americans, isn't that entire industry basically?

They are not all evenly distributed. The 'lottery' is rigged, too.

But Trump put in his own people to run the agencies that administer these visas. And they have been changing how this shit goes down. One of the changes pending is to eliminate the lottery and use another system. The lottery was set up orginally by administrative fiat, not Congress. Which is why this bill is being pushed, I think. It references the lottery so I bet it codifies that is how it will be by the Will of Fucking Globalist Congress, thus preventing Trump from doing what I just said.

That's just a guess on my part, as I have not looked up the particulars. But it is a well-educated guess based upon who these congressional fuckers operate.

People, people, people. Please know the difference between visa and a green card.
I don't know what other pork is in this bill but the green card rule is good for American worker.
Let me explain. Employer hires H1-B at 70K in 2010. Employee cannot go look for another job until they get a Green Card. This makes them slaves to the Employer and work for what ever pay they get.
With Green Card in their hand they can look for better paying jobs. And Employer have to offer this job to someone else with higher Pay.
So this will be against the globalist A-holes who want only low salaried drones.

it wont clear the Senate and Trump will not sign it.
15   Tenpoundbass   2019 Jul 11, 11:44am

Trump should start an under employed or un employed American Tech worker's registry.
Where names on that list has to be considered first over HB1 Visa hires.

Why do you want to import CEOs when you can make some here by giving green cards to hard working people?

Same reason they want to give green cards to the hard working people from overseas instead of making engineers from hard working people here.

btw, for anyone who's curious, you can see lots of H1B salary info online, such as how much they get paid, when hired, what city, job title etc... I think this data must be public because a few sites seem to have the same data.

Here's one
https://h1bsalary.online

Some of the salaries are actually pretty high, but I think those must be very qualified employees. I have no doubt at all that the added supply depresses wages. *edit - I think employers are required to pay H1B's "prevailing wage", so no wonder salaries are high. But, it obviously depresses overall salaries.

Also true. An Indian student from higher caste will treat other people like shit generally. Few Indians from lower castes (peasant) I knew were very hard-working and good human beings. However, most coming in are from higher castes for obvious reasons.

Because CEO's always bloviate about cutting costs by outsourcing or hiring underpaid H1 workers. We could cut costs of companies by importing low-paid CEO's, which would save tons of money for shareholders.

This is a giant "FUCK YOU" to American students. How the fuck are kids supposed to get jobs, when everything they learn constantly gets outsourced. And money goes overseas, so families overseas do better. But American families get fucked.

This is most fucked up shit ever, I know I'm just venting, but this is some fucked up shit that triggers me very very hard!

Yes I was cross posting from another thread addressing a post by Patrick regarding illegal immigration.

I'd totally disagree about the average Joe Schmoe in middle America though. Not sure if there's a specific engineering field you're addressing, but my wife works with tons of engineers. We've become friends with a lot of them and they're not just "client" friends. Most are Illinois and Wisconsin grads by me. They're intelligent people. The crew we hang with gets national awards and they're all local midwest guys and gals.

None are Indian. They take the lowest level jobs and are frankly frowned upon. Real world experience beats classroom education. India doesn't have the greatest infrastructure I imagine. But maybe you were talking about different engineering.

But not more educated or even the same as your average American engineer.

And given the level of corruption in India who's to say he didn't outright buy his diploma?

That's why you outright discard all diplomas from overseas, since today let's face it Diploma is not a sign of ability. Too fucking many participation trophies, and fake degrees from people who think having a piece of paper is more important than knowing how to do a job.

This, this is a much more impactful issue on GOOD wages (which I know you’ve mentioned in the past) I’d argue when compared to the illegal immigrant problem. These Indians will send cash back home at a much higher volume over all versus an illegal just based on the higher incomes they’ll get here. If they walk off the plane and will take $50k for what currently is a $70k job that is statistically a major shift.

@WookieMan you're probably right. Those Indian low-level programmers are probably suppressing wages and sending back cash at higher dollar volumes than mere illegals.

Both are allowed here for the same reason though - to benefit employers at the expense of US workers.
29   mbSFBay   2019 Jul 25, 9:39am

Just like any other Ethnic group or cohorts, there is average, below average, excellent and exceptional talent coming from India - following the normal distribution curve (Bell curve).

Now that some of the former H1-Bs are CEOs (the company stagnating with Ballmer is thriving with an Indian CEO) - folks with a racist bend will attribute that success to sheer luck and no talent - and feel that these folks are driving down CEO pay to depressing levels.

The progeny of these low level programmers have the Scripps spelling bee, National geography bee and Jeopardy Teen tournaments locked up pretty good (for those who follow such mindless activities that go on in the US of A).

The slum dwellers of India seem to now be locking on Talent contests out here (America's Got Talent, World of Dance).

Be dismissive of Indian talent at your own peril. American car companies were dismissive of Japanese Cars at some point.

Enjoy your beer, football, worship of sports stars and celebrities and keep denigrating other cultures as inferior to your own.

Problem is, India is the #1 of all countries for "not wanting to have neighbors different than yourself", so save your sanctimonious remarks. The US isn't even in the top 25, nowhere near India, so you really need to reign in your hypocrisy.

It's interesting that too much diversity seems to make hatred far worse than almost non-existent diversity (Japan). Note Lebanon is also high.

Additionally, if India wants to sell, it must buy. Or be slapped with reciprocal tariffs. For example, if India taxes cars made in the USA at 33%, then we should tax Indian made Software at 33% in return. The US did not colonize India so you can stop with whinging about the British who brought you democracy, industry, the very idea of universal human rights, etc. (all non-existent before). Also be nicer to the Dalits.

All your points are correct. But none of them relate what the OP was saying. Indians are coming and if you don't prepare your laws properly you will be inundated with them. And if you want to stop them you have to stop propagating free trade. That is the poison pill...
