I was stuck in an intersection in Mission district when the light turned red. No I was not curb walking. I was trying to find my way to the dentist office and a bit disoriented.

Got a traffic ticket. It was my fault. Allowed myself to be distracted looking at street signs and paranoidly watching for pedestrians and cyclists from every angle.

I asked the young cop if he could help me with directions on how to get to Buchanan Street from the warren of one way streets we were in. He didn't know. He was friendly and apologetic that he could not help me. He offered to look it up. (I told him never mind I'll check my mobile phone app). He'd never heard of Buchanan and he didn't know that the UCSF had a dental school. He told me he just recently joined the force and commuted in to SF from far away (I think it was Antioch) so he wasn't familiar with the area.

SF Cops are mercenary security guards nowadays. That's who is keeping the city safe for the tourists and Hipsters.
