Chloroquine is a 9-aminoquinoline known since 1934. Apart from its well-known antimalarial effects, the drug has interesting biochemical properties that might be applied against some viral infections. Chloroquine exerts direct antiviral effects, inhibiting pH-dependent steps of the replication of several viruses including members of the flaviviruses, retroviruses, and coronaviruses. Its best-studied effects are those against HIV replication, which are being tested in clinical trials. Moreover, chloroquine has immunomodulatory effects, suppressing the production/release of tumour necrosis factor α and interleukin 6, which mediate the inflammatory complications of several viral diseases. We review the available information on the effects of chloroquine on viral infections, raising the question of whether this old drug may experience a revival in the clinical management of viral diseases such as AIDS and severe acute respiratory syndrome, which afflict mankind in the era of globalisation.
But the situation in Italy seems to keep getting worse, so I'm starting to doubt that chloroquine plus azithromycin could possibly be as effective as the French doctor claims.

Well, better late than never.
As for China, they have been flat lining for as long as chloroquine plus azithromycin cure has been known/rumored.
So maybe they are simply using that drug combination or another and not publicizing it, to give themselves time while we flounder with procedure.
Very hard to know from what little info we get from the news. So there's the case of China, strangely low rate of disease now, maybe indicating that it works. And the case of Italy, strangely high rate of disease now, indicating that it doesn't work.

This virus is world-wide, and there is no putting the genie back in the bottle. I am assuming we will have a vaccine by September and that better weather will substantially reduce the virus's spread over the summer months in the Northern hemisphere. However, come Fall and Winter this virus will reappear. Normal flu vaccines are about 30% effective. I am assuming that this will be the case for COVID-19, as well. Are we really going to shut down the entire economy every time an outbreak appears?
And hell, AIDS for that matter. Used to be fatal, now a long-term profit center for Big Pharma!
An old boss who was a US Navy officer said to go for the blow job, much lower risk of infection.
