Hi guys,

Hoping someone can steer me in the right direction.

I’m looking to purchase a Glock19. Nobody, I mean nobody has this in stock in the Bay Area!

With Covid19 and the protests across the country, I’m being told that much of the Glock inventory that was present in gun stores across the Bay is sold out and it’s unlikely that more will be available for 4months+

Does anyone know where I can buy a Glock19 (legally) from a Bay Area gun store today? Anyone have stock?

Thanks

If you're serious about self-defense, get a revolver. Glocks are unreliable.

Don't listen to this advice. There is a reason glocks are used by most LEOs. All my military friends carry glock or sig. They say glocks are the most reliable handgun on the planet.
119   clambo   2020 Jul 11, 7:09pm

Glocks have their faults but they usually go bang.
A revolver is the essence of reliable by its design.
I would trust a Glock to fire when I pull the trigger.

Why couldn't YOU run to your second floor bedroom and lock the door?

In CA you 'get a small dog'. Then you register it as an emotional support animal.

Then when someone breaks in you shoot the fuck out them and keep shooting them until they are not recognizable.

When interviewed you say: He kicked my dog.

The registered support animal dog is as good as your kid here.

Not that I would personally do this. I just have a fish.

You can drag em through the mud and they'll still fire just fine. I like revolvers too though. More sex appeal.

So when I was taking a crap earlier today I was dreaming about life after I move out of CA.

I was imagining myself in a nice car backing into my garage and closing the door. Then locking the door to my house when I went through the garage entry.

It's not too difficult to open someones automatic garage door and I thought what fun it would be to mount a controllable machine BB gun on the wall with a camera and speaker. If I catch someone in my garage I could light their ass up with BBs and say over the intercom: The other side of the door has REAL big bullets!

A guy can have dreams, right?

Not going to read through 125 posts, but what purpose will you be using this gun for?

If you don't plan on using it a whole bunch and just want to have a pistol 'just in case' I'd recommend a revolver, they are very reliable and don't need to be cleaned much at all.

Nice. I am still waiting for my call. They told me it will be "August something".

Keep us posted.

Buy some Magpul D60 magaznines. You can stuff 60 rounds in each and store them long term without weakening the springs. These are also the ONLY AR-15 drum magazines that I have found to work reliably. Stay away from Pmag and Beta C.

I don't like mags over 20rd - they interfere when shooting from the prone position.

Not the D60. They hang down below rifle about same as 20 rounder.

I wish it were mine to take credit. Guy working at a gun store told me. Although you maybe have to say, "I feared for my life!" AND "He kicked my dog!". I mostly remember the dog part.

When the shit hits the fan, you enlist your neighbors to come over and knock arrow slits in your walls, to keep watch on your six and nine.

Yes, I was told to expect the background check to take 2x as long as usual... so expecting 20days or so.

If anyone ever tells you it’s easy to get a gun in CA, challenge them. So far it’s been a mega hassle. But that’s ok, I’m in no rush and in the end will have a legally purchased firearm.

Yes, guns are good for telling liberals that you will not be beaten up for speaking the truth.

A couple of shots into the air should do it.

@Patrick

Never pull out that gun unless you need to use it to prevent bodily injury or death to you.

By shooting in the air, you are putting your life at risk because you don’t know who is in the crowd and what firearm(s) they have on them.

If you fire your weapon, the next sequence can get very unpredictable.

Additionally, you could be charged with "negligent discharge" — an illegal act. The workaround here is to claim you were aiming to kill the person because you feared for your life, but you just happened to have very poor accuracy.

The left's ever-increasing hassles put on purchasing guns is causing some people to buy guns because they know if they ever need one in the future, they won't be able to get one in time.

And, for the record, the "mega hassle" is not OK for another reason too: Gun owners are presumably kept in an enormous government registry so that the future enforcers can go door to door demanding you turn over your guns. "I lost it in a fishing accident" won't cut it; off to the gulag!
140   BayArea   2020 Jul 26, 6:49pm

California law requires individuals to report the loss or theft of a firearm to local law enforcement in the jurisdiction where the loss or theft occurred within five days of the time they discovered or reasonably should have discovered the loss or theft.

That's why I'm planning to GTFO of CA pretty much immediately if SHTF. All of my family have left already anyway. At least the smart ones.

Are air rifles legal and unregulated?
You can get 50 cal air rifles (made in USA) and I would think that you could shoot them in your back yard.

There are ordinances against shooting air rifles within residential areas in some cities/counties. It's not a problem with small caliber air rifles because they tend to be fairly quiet (I shoot one in my backyard all the time and my neighbour does too), but 9mm or 50 cal would have a fairly substantial bark methinks.

In Carlsbad, CA you can shoot air-rifles in your back yard.

I was plinking rabbits all last summer that were coming in under my fence and tearing up my yard.

So what was your appointment for? Just to fill out the paperwork for the background check?

My store told me they can't start the check until they have the gun in inventory so they can match up serial numbers.

Did you get to see or handle your gun? Did they have you take the Firearms Safety Certificate test?
147   Eric Holder   2020 Jul 27, 10:12am

Did you know that fully-functioning replicas of black powder revolvers like ones used in Civil War are not legally considered firearms and can be bought on the Internet and delivered to your front door without all that BG check/registration nonsence? Now you do.
148   MisdemeanorRebel   2020 Jul 27, 10:27am

Thanks Eric: Most pre-1899 firearms are also exempt from Federal and most State laws.

Some Mosin-Nogants, Webleys, Remingtons, lever actions, etc. made before 1899. Revolvers and Shotguns, too, not just rifles.

HOWEVER, you need to check the serial numbers because some Enfields, Mosin-Nagants, etc. of the same type were made after 1899. The law only exempts pre-1899 manufactured weapons, not the design itself, so a Mosin made in 1904 doesn't qualify as Antique but a Mosin made in 1897 does, even if same exact model.

Be careful about what you choose, since some ammo hasn't been in production in decades and is very tough to find, like .38 Rimfire for this revolver:

I really like "Cowboy" or "Western" style lever actions. You can refill the tube as you fire, no magazine jam worries, you can get them in pistol calibers (like .357/.38Spec) or Rifle Calibers.

Since most infantry combat happens within 30M and most home encounters under 5M, I like carbines in pistol calibers that can still knock down a deer or communist in longer ranger fighting if TEOTWAKI

The additional advantage is that Leftist prosecutors will have a tougher time convincing a jury that dad/grandpa with his ol' wood stock Western Lever Action is a bad guy, vs. a SUPERTAC MILSPEC KILLEMALL Black Rifle like an AR-15 or bubba'd up SKS. Assault Rifle!

Yesterday - didn't save the link - the media called the driver a "gunman" and the rioter "armed with a rifle" even though that rifle was an AR-15 that the media almost always insists in an "Assault Rifle"

- I got the FSC back in 2017. It’s good to 2022.

- The appointment was for the background check.

- I pick up the gun after the background check completes.

- During my appointment I paid for the gun and it is being held for me.

I had one of those when I was a kid. I replaced housing with plastic. Pistol grip. It was a paratrooper so short barrel and with the folding stock it was easy to conceal. Nice bayonet with a bleed groove. Easy to get mod plans at the gun show for other things I won't mention.

I killed a lot of bottles with that thing.

No idea what cool stuff you could get for one of those today...
154   socal2   2020 Jul 31, 6:21pm

I just heard from Turners Outdoorsman where I put a down-payment on a Glock 19 on July 1. They said they are now getting shipments for Glock 19's ordered in mid-June and that there are 560 Glock 19 orders ahead of me. They are getting batches of 250 every 2 weeks. That is alot of Glock 19 sales for this one store in San Marcos, CA.

They hope to have mine by late August. Then another 10-20 days for the background check.......
155   RC2006   2020 Jul 31, 6:25pm

I wonder how many guns they are moving a month, that a lot of just glock 19s. Gun sales are note even slowing.

@socal what about ammo?
