Onvacation, what are you talking about. How do you come up with that. Provide a source! You said you researched it.
239   Bitcoin   2020 Nov 10, 9:13am

Thats fair Wookie. I dont make ANY claims other than showing what I bought. I simply want to see what happens in a year from now by holding. Maybe (hopefully) I will be in a position to brag about gains or maybe I will lose money. Thats not pumping.
Yes, its a lot riskier! The gains and loses can be extremely higher than traditional investments.

Onvacation is not just blunt though. He makes claims and doesnt provide a source (2040??) and he does his own comparison between BTC, gold and money and didnt even include key differences like scarcity/decentralization. He's obviously just here to bash and misinform.

2040

And you still haven't said what you think bitcoin "programmability " means.

244   Bitcoin   2020 Nov 10, 9:58am

Why dont you answer the question :) you make up stuff and dont provide a source. How did you come up with 2040? Provide a source. You said you researched it :)
245   Bitcoin   2020 Nov 10, 10:03am

Onvacation, it takes you awfully long to find a source for your claim that all bitcoin will be mined by 2040? Why? How did you come up with this? provide a source. You said you researched Bitcoin. Show it!
246   Onvacation   2020 Nov 10, 10:03am

Ok. You know bitcoin is artificially scarce. When do you think the last bit "coin" will be "mined"?

Don't speculate from ignorance.
247   Bitcoin   2020 Nov 10, 10:04am

ahahaha he cant answer the question :) he keeps trying to distract.

does googling take you so long? You are an alleged software engineer and claimed that bitcoin will be fully mined by 2040? Why cant you find a source for it? Did you not research it?

Conveniently you left out scarcity

What happens in 2040 when the last coin is mined?

Where does it say that on the internet? why wont you provide a source?
250   Onvacation   2020 Nov 10, 10:10am

Typo. I meant 2140.

They are going to try to keep the scam going for another century of artificial scarcity.

That is so hilarious....all this time he thought Bitcoin will be fully mined in 20 years.....when pressed on showing a link, he tried everything to distract from it.....and now its a typo and he meant 120 years from now. Thank you for the laugh dude!
255   Onvacation   2020 Nov 10, 10:15am

About the "programmability " thing. How do you program a bitcoin?
256   Onvacation   2020 Nov 10, 10:15am

It's OK to say you don't know.
257   Bitcoin   2020 Nov 10, 10:17am

Nice research dude! you were only off by 100 years!
258   Onvacation   2020 Nov 10, 10:17am

I doubt if it makes it to 2030
259   Onvacation   2020 Nov 10, 10:18am

About this "programmability " can you explain what you mean?
260   Bitcoin   2020 Nov 10, 10:22am

I gotta leave this as is for a while. This was too good. Thank you again for the laughter. Talk to you later!

Ignorance is no sin if you are willing to be educated.

Last count I have programmed in 19 languages over my career. I could probably duckduckgo it but I was wondering what. G36 says
programmability
means to you?

Not meaning to offend you @G36 I just believe you lack knowledge of crypto. You came here asking for advice and you got plenty.

If you still think Bitcoin is a valid investment and not a Ponzi scheme where the early adopters make money and the latecomers get left holding a flash drive, good luck.

My disrespect is for Bitcoin, not you. That's just my educated opinion.

Sry for busting your balls here. Being 100 years off is just too big to ignore. Does that make you question your alleged Bitcoin research? All this time you thought the last Bitcoin will be mined by 2040 and now that you know its 2140, does that change anything for you?
And before we move on to another topic. What do you mean by "They". Who is trying to keep what going? And in your mind, how would "they" even be able to do that?

Interesting! So 100 years makes no difference to you. Why so hasty in moving on to the next topic. I thought we are having a discussion. I'll ask again.

Wouldnt that be important to know for us? Who is they?

I think your Bitcoin research needs to start (or start over). You seem to think that there are creaters in charge and that "they" can keep something(?!) going or not in regards to the Bitcoin network?? In your mind, how would that even be possible??

I am shocked that you, as an alleged software engineer, know so little about Bitcoin.

"Bitcoin uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority or banks; managing transactions and the issuing of bitcoins is carried out collectively by the network. Bitcoin is open-source; its design is public, nobody owns or controls Bitcoin and everyone can take part. Through many of its unique properties, Bitcoin allows exciting uses that could not be covered by any previous payment system."

Since you seem to not agree with this, why even discuss it with you further? On your comparison with Gold and the Dollar you left decentralization, programmability (for instance, Bitcoin has a control logic built in so that Bitcoins cannot be counterfeited, it only allows a certain amount of Bitcoin to be mined, a halving event takes place which cuts the Bitcoin inflation rate and intermediaries are not needed), scarcity and security (cannot be counterfeited) off. These are key traits of Bitcoin.

Again, its shocking how little you know about Bitcoin. Take programmability for instance. You are telling me in your Bitcoin research you have never crossed an article about programmable money? Should I copy and paste some for you?

It's clear to me you have no interest in a discussion. You only post false info (last BTC mined in 2040, creaters can keep it going at will) or call people names.

Programmed? Or programmable? Are you saying bitcoin is programmed because it was set up with artificial scarcity? Or are you saying that bitcoin is programmable and they can change the rules as they go? Both are true.

Help me understand what you mean by Bitcoin is programmable?

Like Heroin deals and buying Russian hookers?

What exciting uses do you foresee for bitcoin?

I am willing to have my mistakes corrected. The designers of the bitcoin blockchain designed it for a century of artificial scarcity. I misread somewhere that it was 2040 and not 2140. I was wrong about that. Doesn't change my argument that bitcoin is a Ponzi scheme relying on the next speculator to pay more for the coin than you did.

It has been my experience that bitcoin speculators get real defensive when you try to point out to them the facts.
