All summer long, I made a small brew from leftover pineapple rinds, ginger, and mexican brown sugar cane. It was phenomenal. I would get 6 bottles from food scraps essentially.

We have Stone out here on the east coast... they opened a second brewery down in Richmond, VA I think it was last year. I've had their enjoy by 4/20... Ill have to seek this 1/1/21 one out for the holidays.
As for the Rochefort my local dive bar used to have the Rochefort 10 in bottles... owner bought it based on a friend's recommendation. I think I was the only one who ever orderd it. An $11 Belgian didn't move quickly amongst a room full of $3 domestic drinkers.
Man now I'm thirsty.

So back in Feb. I brewed a small batch (3 gal) of peach-mint beer as a joke. It was surprisingly refreshing and was a good spring beer. Light, crisp and surprisingly drinkable.
My daughter just told me I have to make a new batch...

IPA is a joke, who in their right mind would intentionally drink that stuff?
And it's not as bad as the Sour beers, and Seltzer beers.
Thank God, my daughters at least know I drink real beer, and brink me a four banger of Sammy Smith Oatmeal Lager Stout, a 12'ver of Shiner Bock and Couple sixers of Anchor Steam beer, when they make a trip to Total Wine and Spirits to buy the swill I mentioned above.
They don't even drink the stuff, then it sits in the fridge, and end up being the "well there might be a few beers in the fridge in the house..." when we run out of beer, during a late night jam session out in the Studio Shed. There ought to be a law! That stuff is terrible, swig swig swig.

I used to brew. Haven’t done it it a few years since I stopped most drinking except for rare social occasions when I have one or two drinks.
Some of my creations came out absolutely great though. I was best with Ambers, although a holiday spiced version turned out pretty good too.

Wheat beers Duvel included, just taste off to me. Like some liquid that was left out over night and went rancid. Like iced tea in a crummy diner. Brewed about 3 to 5pm, and left out in the kitchen until the next day, before it was diluted and put in a pitcher.

Oh yeah luv me some beer. Brewed many batches so far, got into it from being poor in college. I tend to wing it now based on what's available and strikes my fancy- all grain or hybrid mostly. Preference is for West Coast styles- big big big! Though I do appreciate all styles done well. As for fruit one time I did a Persimmon Brown Holiday IPA. That was pretty damn good. The Persimmon flavor showed through, I guess that particular sugar did not ferment.

It was imported from Ethiopia. My Ethiopian friend told me they had a license with Guinness but it precluded them from legally exporting it although the restaurant I got it from, illegally imported it. Unfortunately, I think Harar is out of business :(

Have you ever had Caffrey's Irish Ale? I lived in Boston for 6 months, it's a nitro ale. I used to really like that, but I think Boston was a test market, and I never saw it again. I wouldn't (previously) think nitro versus CO2 would make that much of a difference, but it was an entirely smooth ale. Smithwicks is the closest thing I've had to it since.

Ran across some in a liquor store on the way through Kansas on a road trip to Maine last Summer. Tasty! I regretted only buying one six pack. It's probably available locally but there are so many good beers out there that I am too lazy to find it.

805 is pretty good and is available everywhere.
wheat beers are my favorite, so much flavor in them. goes well with all sorts of foods.

For me I'm all over the map, from IPAs to largers and even the occasional sour, but right now my #1 has to be Troegs Mad Elf since its a sure sign that the holidays are approaching.

I do a bit of home brewing on the side and one of my better brews (based in feedback from others) is a chocolate cherry stout. Im overdue to make a new batch for this holidy season.
Craziest beer I tried to make was a peach / mint brew earlier this year that frankly showed surprising promise, to the point that I'd probably make it again next spring
Call me an anti purist, but most of my more creative concoctions have had some sort of fruit in them. I like playing around in the kitchen seeing what crazy flavor profiles I can come up with. Some have been good, others not so much. My attempt at an apple pie larger last year was underwhelming.
