The Coming Death of Cash and the Battle for the Future of Money. In One Future We have a Private, Anonymous Alternative to Cash but in the Black Mirror Future the Money in Your Pocket Knows Everything About You.
Cash is dying.

And with the death of cash, privacy faces a deeply uncertain future. In my article on privacy coins I said governments would drive physical cash to extinction in twenty years. Now I feel it won’t even take that long.

China’s relentless push to build a state backed digital currency, the economic disaster the global pandemic wreaked upon the world, and the incredible rise of decentralized cryptos like Bitcoin and Ethereum has accelerated the timeline to kill off cash.

100% agree. It will happen fast. In parts of the world it has already happenend. Digital cash is the future. No way around it.

Greatest "spec play" in todays markets... Crypto atm is a great spec play and nothing more. Digital cash is the future however no 1 knows what that will look like
1 of the worst mistake a person can make is underestimating the powers at hand... 1 Problem he mentioned and has been my opinion as well crypto sucks in use case scenarios
and lots of families could lose their wealth if the holder of the keys doesn't educate and keep them totally informed, many will not sad to say. There are lots of development with paypal, visa international and etc. who are working on making things very user friendly and people in masses will take advantage thinking they are in the real crypto game but if you study the structure of it's architecture you will find that their digital cash is anything but decentralized... Until all the ducks are in a row and lined up for the shooting I'm just going to trade in and out and buy hard assets with the majority of my profits...

341   porkchopXpress   2021 Jan 18, 7:35pm

At this point, a new investor would have better yields going with something like Siacoin or Cardano since BTC's price is so high.

That's my reason. Its been a fantastic investment for me and I plan on paying off mortgages with it, buying stocks/RE and to keep some BTC forever.
For institutions its a diversification/inflation hedge to hold BTC on their balance sheet.
For the rich its a store of wealth that no entity can easily confiscate.

Since the real use case is still in development imo I plan on buying and selling and as time goes on use some profit to own house shares of BTC which I am flat BTC atm. Just wondering you do realize BTC is the millennial's choice for their gold, most actually care less about the real metals they all heard of Peter Schiff and dont want no part of it lol ? Personally I am betting on bigger yields from ADA Cardano as mentioned as well as I see a good measurable amount of profit yet in ETH Etherum, LINK ChainLink, XLM Stellar, SNX Synthetix, ALGO Algorand, ZRX Ox for instance. There are others but being a US trader many are out of reach until if/when US trading exchanges list them.

I have a VPN but they still have kyc and AML requirements, you maybe able to get your hands on the coins your interested in but how will you move them, your US bank acct.? .... Other countries dont want to be in the gun sight of US regulators. There are the possibility of legal ramifications for lying in the financial world for the little guy. ;)

For Coinbase & Binance I have a trading account that allows me to convert FIAT. KYC's are needed (ID, social etc).
For Kraken I only have the basic account that allows you to trade against stable coins. No KYC's, ID needed.

US traders can trade these US based exchanges Coinbase and Kraken. Binance.us allows most states to trade that platform my stae is not 1 of them. So really you don't have access to all the coins if those are your go to exchanges.
355   Bitcoin   2021 Jan 19, 8:39am

@Cash, I was interested in Polkastarter (POLS) but I agree with you there are so many opportunities within Binance/Coinbase that I wont really need another exchange.
356   Cash   2021 Jan 19, 9:08am

You'll make plenty of $$$ just staying in the top coins. The problem with POLS there is no real market support so your odds are
not there. 3 active exchanges won't do...

My Crypto acct has an extra 55.60% gains since this yrs beginning. Stock will never come close considering
SP500 has perhaps another <3% to 3967 heavy R from current price and in the same time frame I am likely to have
doubled my acct 100% if not more. Not to late several still have 100% gains and more on a fairly short time frame.
BTC is sitting where that 590 million was bought just the other day however it was bought over the OTC so it's effect
is delayed.

https://reclaimthenet.org/yellen-pushes-narrative-of-bitcoin-being-tied-to-crime/

The incoming US administration looks determined to vilify Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general as tools whose main purpose is to help criminals and terrorists.

Those who advocate for greater adoption of digital, decentralized money say that it helps people become independent from the power and whims of central banks. Now Janet Yellen, who will serve as Secretary for Treasury in the Biden administration, says she has “a particular concern” regarding this type of digital money.

Addressing a Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday, Yellen said she “thought” that when it comes to transactions, many cryptocurrencies are used “mainly for illicit financing.”

The point of all this seems to be to justify and move forward with efforts to regulate cryptocurrencies – as Yellen added that the authorities need to look at how to effectively suppress their use in order to ensure they are not available to money launderers and other criminals.

OK, if the Fed actually hates Bitcoin, then I like Bitcoin.
366   Cash   2021 Jan 20, 5:57pm

The problem for the regulators is similar to taxing the rich they just move and with BTC being decentralized
they will have similar problems if they come down to hard it just goes more under cover as it were and they will be
circumvented. Central banks are getting major involved "OCC" because they know they have "no choice" if they want to play
and profit gloriously in this market... Lots of people want in crypto but find it to crazy town to get signed up and get
involved but the banks will make it happen seamlessly and make coin just being fiduciaries for their clients....
