I've been keeping a bit of an eye on this one as well, but I don't have enough information to come to a conclusion yet. Is it really a different strain that happens to be more deadly? Is it more deadly there due to some set of ideal conditions for the virus, in some way opposite to how Haiti seemed mostly unaffected?

Short of the standard information-devoid, panic-pushing articles you see from most media, I haven't found anything scientific detailing it. Perhaps it's just too early to tell.

Well according to "experts" the India strain is already in the US and the CA strain was/is serious. So if nothing changes here you can assume it's bs. I still think environment issues aggravate the situation gravely. Haiti may be poor but they're not unsanitary or have a lot of environmental pollution, their air and water is likely relatively clean.

Haiti actually does not vaccinate against Covid at all. Maybe if you're rich and want it you can get it privately, but government does not vaccinate. So I assume less than 5% are vaccinated in Haiti and that that will not change.

Later on in the article ‘The Guardian’ ask their South Asia correspondent ‘What needs to happen now in order for the crisis to abate?’ Here’s the answer that was given – “The only thing that is going to get us out of this crisis is vamping up vaccine production and distribution.” Prior to the Covid Vaccine roll-out the Indian Government had been treating the citizens of India with Ivermectin. . The corporate media fearmongers are claiming there are 120 COVID deaths per hour in India.

Let's put things into perspective, shall we?

120 COVID deaths/hour x 24 hours x 365 days = 1,051,200 Indian COVID deaths a year.

India has the second highest population in the world at 1,391,000,000.

1,051,200 / 1,391,000,000 100 = 0.0756% of the Indian population dead with COVID in a year.

And that's allegedly the highest death rate right now.

The USA has a population of 332,000,000 and claims to have had over 500,000 COVID deaths in a year.

Just think of how many US citizens would be DEAD with a death rate like that of India!!!

332,000,000 0.0756% = 250,992 USA COVID deaths a year.

Wait a second, that means the highest death rate in India isn't even half as bad as the average USA death rate in a year...
