Every time I walk into a restaurant with my mask affixed for 30 seconds before being seated, then spend 45 minutes unmasked eating and drinking, and then affix my mask again for 30 seconds while leaving, I give thanks for how many thousands of lives this practice has surely saved

In St Thomas/John right now. Super strict from last year. Beaches are fine. Restaurants are crazy. I guess local gov has roaming Covid brigades. Talked with the bartender at length and they legit walk down the beach and sneak on the resort to catch them doing something “wrong.”

I love this place, but not digging the mask. I’ll wear the neck gaiter for sun protection, but getting annoyed having to mask up for no reason. Having fun, but not the same as the last two years. Boat day today. Should get my annual Epstein Island photo. Insomnia sucks. Need to get back to sleep.

Was there last month and for Spring Break this year. Love me some Florida, but there’s not a single beach that touches those of St John and a few on St Thomas.

Panhandle FL does have the best sand I’ve personally experienced. But the water, reefs and underwater wildlife can’t be beat in USVI versus mainland US. Between vacation as a child till now, I’ve probably lived close to 2 years in FL. So we switched it up and love it besides this Covid BS

I'm a little disturbed by the increase of mask wearing I've been seeing during my commutes on the NYC subway. Just two months ago it wouldn't be unusual to have at least two other people unmasked on the train at any given time, but now they've started to disappear.

Not wearing a mask, therefore, can make a statement of “I respect that we all have unique relationships to health and to authority, with our own individual perspectives. However the invocation of the legal system and other coercive functions of the state to enforce one set of meanings, one understanding of health behaviours onto others, needs to be resisted. We all must live in this world and our society together, and therefore need to listen and be open to different perspectives – however it is only possible to do that once the threat of mask mandates and other tools of coercion are removed.

Fortunately, in 2019, the World Health Organization collected a thorough review of the literature for their “Non-pharmaceutical public health measures for mitigating the risk and impact of epidemic and pandemic influenza” planning document.

It bears repeating just how little evidence there was for the organization to suggest that masks would impact the flu:
