NAPERVILLE, Ill. — On Tuesday, Naperville police released body cam footage depicting a deadly shooting of a hatchet-wielding man.

According to police, on June 3 an officer was conducting a traffic stop around 11 a.m. near Bond Street and McDowell Road in Naperville. Around 10 minutes later, police said a second vehicle pulled up and a man, later identified as Edward Samaan, 28, holding a hatchet got out of the car.

After Samaan jumps out of the vehicle six shots are audible on body camera video.

An alleged intruder was shot dead by a homeowner in Ohio on Sunday night.

Pickaway County Sheriff Matthew Hafey said that a 911 call came in at around 11:40 p.m., saying that a man had broken into a house and been shot by the resident, WBNS-TV reported.

Hafey said that when deputies arrived at the scene, a man was found dead inside.

The incident is under investigation.

While more details are forthcoming, if the dead suspect was indeed intruding in the home, then the homeowner was within their legal rights to defend themselves and their home.

A Texas man who shot a woman in the neck was killed Saturday when the bullet also hit him, police said. Dallas police responding to a report of a shooting at an apartment building found "a large amount of blood and a blood trail in front of an apartment," they said in a statement. No one was in the apartment when officers arrived at around 11:40 a.m. local time (12:40 p.m. ET), the Dallas Police Department said. Police then got a call from a nearby hospital about a man and a woman found outside with gunshot wounds, police said. The pair were in a car outside the hospital. Investigators believe the man, Byron Redmon, 26, shot the woman in the neck, but the "bullet then exited and hit Redmon in the leg." Redmon died at the hospital. The condition of the woman, who has not been identified, is unknown.
