In that case, $4k is massively cheaper than even the simplest in-hospital live birth. So, the company is probably losing tens of thousands of dollars (or more) when an employee becomes a mother.

This is unfortunate truth and short shortsightedness of businesses.
Only religion can solve this issue as it goes beyond profit and loss to some extent and at least theoretically treats humans more than mere objects to be used.

How many companies paid for employees to go on a Vegas "business trip." What if the employees happens to gamble during that trip? What if that employee happens to visit the Bunny Ranch during that trip? If they are from California and drove over, maybe they visit a shooting range and try out a 50 cal or (heavens!) an "assault" rifle. If they were from California and flew over, maybe they rented (horrors!) a car that wasn't CARB compliant! OMG!

A problem for business is that, even if they offer generous maternity leave and healthcare, etc., there's no guarantee that the employee will stick around after the benefits are used. I worked with a woman who was hired while pregnant, got the full medical package and (paid) maternity leave, all the bells and whistles while the kid (and another baby) were young, and then left the company 5 years later. She was a great worker and had a great attitude, but I'll never know if that employment timing was a coincidence or not.

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was the victim of a “swatting” hoax in Georgia, the congresswoman has just announced.

Greene posted on social media today that she was “swatted” in the middle of the night at around 1 am.

A “swatting” hoax causes armed law enforcement to descend on a property under the assumption that there’s an emergency situation.

“Last night, I was swatted just after 1 am,” she said on Twitter.

“I can’t express enough gratitude to my local law enforcement here in Rome, Floyd County.

It is the FBI that lies to FISA courts. The CIA simply ignores the laws, altogether. No law enforcement agency is going to trace who did this to Greene.
