The only reason I can think of besides geopolitical posturing or theater is if Belarus moves in to shut off western border of Ukraine. I am not sure they can effectively do that since Ukraine borders Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary and also the non-Russian controlled part of Moldova.
