Why did the CCCP openly announcing the intent to annex it then? No ifs, no buts, just straigh-up promise of annexation. Moldova has been neutral since the day they became independent, never had any "NATO bases" or has been accused of hosting "bioWEAPONSlabs!!!"* and yet it's being threatened with annexation.
