I have to look at our roof surface plan to see which tank would get the most water flow from the gutter. Install a sump pump on the last one in the line and overflow going to a side yard pond/garden area. Plumb in a direct line to the pool filter/pump if we need to top that off. Pump at the garden area by the pond.

I'd have the sump in the basement eject into the buried cisterns and have a valve during winter to not have it flow into the pond but into the storm sewer. Dual sump pump setup as a backup.

We have a high water table, 2-3' and with a 9' basement water can be an issue. French drain around the outside for surface water. I'm no engineer but I think the system I'm designing is a huge insurance policy. $15k probably, but as a kid we got 3' of water in our basement and it cost that to refinish. I'd rather do it right and have a nice landscape feature with the pond and be able to top the pool off.

I'd do the driveway thing in a heartbeat, grass like you posted Patrick, but I've got fucking covenants to follow unfortunately. Water is one of my biggest concern with our build. Oh and taxes..... Fortunately my idea above has no effect on taxes. I'll start the build thread soon. Contractor bids are out.

Rural homes nationwide already use grass parking. Same with rural sports fields. Bermuda grass works great for parking by mitigating the mud.

Grass works for a minute under light traffic. A parking lot that sees every parking space occupied for most of the day, and the traffic in and out Would turn it into a mudhole rather quickly. I don't get the excitement for this. Have you ever seen a house get new neighbors that park on the lawn? The lawn turns to a sandlot quick enough. Gravel parking lots would achieve everything that misguided meme is saying.. Plus it would last much longer.

I have a Husky Shepard mix, he's like a bull on a leash, he leads me around like I'm a rag doll.
