Can't people just sell their children directly to the adrenochrome factories, and eliminate the Disney middle man?

I've mentioned this before, DisneyWorld sucks ass compared to Disneyland. Not near as many good rides, and same price. I would never go back. Have relatives who have lived there for 20+ years, and have young kids. They almost never go.

I didn't like going to Disneyland even before all the pedo shit. It was crowded and 100% not worth it. Even my small kids, though they had a good time, never asked to go back. Just overall crowds and waiting. Repeat that all day long.

I agree but their Backlot Tour was awesome. Went down into the Utilidor tunnels, went to the rides and animatronics factory, etc. Learned a lot about both parks. Walt Disney slept in his car out in the parking lot of the Anaheim park while it was being built, for example.

I can't even imagine what it feels like in July walking around in that humid hell of Orlando, Florida.

For years Disney had been getting a bad rap that their Theme Parks were way too crowded, the lines too long, and getting into a top restaurant was a challenge. Disney bumped up their prices to make the experience more Magical by lessening the crowds.

In 2019 the tickets were $125 per person per day. In 2023 they max out at $189 per person per day. They are pricing out the riff-raff.

Which is the opposite of what Walt Disney intended. When Disneyland first opened in 1955, adult tickets were a dollar and kids tickets were 50 cents. Each attraction had some small fee like 10 cents or something but you could buy the equivalent of a day pass booklet for cheap. Adjusted for inflation, you're still probably not looking at even a hundred bucks a person, just an estimate though, I didn't do the math.

I am not surprised. Maybe a middle and working class family goes there once just to give the kids the experience.

They wise up as far as best value vacation.

A family of 4 can spend no more than $600 a day in Panama City Beach at a beach condo, lunch at a restaurant, food for cooking in the condo kitchen, visit to Gulf World or Zoo World, snorkel gear to go snorkeling in 40 foot clear water, fishing gear to fish on the beach, tour/shuttle boat ride to Shell Island, etc.

Music is pretty much over if you think about it. I mean, who are the superstar bands? There really aren't any. Miley Cyrus and Justin Beiber was basically the last. They corporatized music so much, people just get fed up with the ENTIRE art form. They've done the same with film and television.

Disagree. You missed Taylor Swift, who is bull shit by the way. Music is now content creators if that makes sense. My favorite band can sell out Red Rocks for 2-3 nights BUT they can't sell 10k tickets every night. They're big and small if that make sense. Music industry is going the way of YouTube and Rumble. If you can get 1-3k people to show up at $30/ticket you're making bank. Everyone is making $3-5k per NIGHT after expenses. Each band member.

Tough life though having somewhat lived it. You work from 6pm to 2am roughly. Yes you have fun. It's not really fun unless you're a mega band with bodies and techs. I think 10# might be the only one here, but I don't think most realize the work music requires. It's not drugs and alcohol. It is work work. A few freaks managed to make bad music in the 80's to make it look like it was easy.

One guy writes the insipid lyrics, the other just does the beats, somebody else does the main riff... or the Swedish outfit that does all three. So you end up where 4 or 5 of the top 10 selling singles that year were made by the same 3 or 4 people.

The "Artist" just shows up and records, and then everything is digitalized, compressed, engineered and mastered.

So we actually agree I think. They are "singing" now, but it's all auto tuned. And I don't mean like the rapper autotune. A 10 year old girl can sound the exact same as Taylor Swift with one rackmount unit/software.

Studio it's been know for decades. Live though they've gotten pretty damn good at it. Even my favorite band does it as the lead singer gets flat and sharp on notes and it clashes with the instruments. I'm not into lyrics though, so I focus on music. That's manipulated as well, but that's a rabbit hole I ain't going down.

With an FFT, I can pull apart an orchestra now, and produce the sheet music. That's been around for a while though.

Something like 6 notes is "copyrightable", so somebody went through, and produced every possible combination of 6 notes, and copyrighted every sequence that wasn't already copyrighted.

I think as an INDUSTRY its dead. I think small creators will start producing one hit wonders more and more frequently. "The Industry" will capture them, they will lose their popularity, and rinse and repeat. It's just censorship and suppression that keeps this mess going now. Remember "viral videos"? When is the last time you saw an ACTUALLY viral video? I remember when Wikipedia used to go viral.

I'm actually suspicious that Dizzey will make a comeback. I mean, people might drive up the stock, but I think these companies are basically dead.

I know parents that think of Disney as poison now. Nickelodeon the same way. They don't want to expose their kids to anything "modern" and have just given up appealing to the companies.

20th Century Fox has a mammoth catalog of films dating back to the silent era. There are too many films to list; check out imdb or somesuch. Off the top of my head - Oklahoma, The Sound of Music, The King And I and the rest of the Rogers and Hammerstein musicals, the Martian, most of the X-men franchise.

I have no interest in fiction now, but I do have an interest in preservation. I have so many banned Looney Tune's cartoons, you can't imagine. I still have to organize them. I was last trying to get all the Dr. Seuss books, his output is much more impressive than I ever knew. He wrote a LOT OF BOOKS. I have no intention of profiting off them or even giving them away, I'm just preserving. The amount of data a single person can store is easily a lifetime of anything they would ever want to read, see, or listen to now.

Similar story here. I waited 20 years for high definition to arrive, then started collecting what is the best and possibly most fucked up shit on film. I'm glad I did now in retrospect, because shit is being either perverted or banned at a rate I can still barely imagine.

I would suggest an exchange, but... I'm starting to think fiction isn't worth preserving.

Just don't let your HDD die, because it will, eventually. 5 year lifespan of drive, copy, preserve old drive - if there's an early failure, you have that backup.

Certain things SHOULD die. Cannibal Holocaust is something I don't think should be preserved. I associate animal killings on film as sadistic and I abhor sadism. It's a mental disease and that's what runs our country now, sadists.

My son loved that film - Keaton does some absolutely crazy dangerous stunts that are real, and there is no protection in case shit goes sideways.

I do agree that in the modern era of CGI six ways from Sunday, that fictional narratives are really getting lame.

Most of my stuff is blu-ray disc. I'm waiting for 50 TB capacity HDD so I can set up a RAID5 array to do something for my movie collection that I did for my audio library - in that case, rip it lossless to a thumb drive.

I'll say this much, having massive, calibrated bass does wonders to reduce young children's appetite for violence. Most movies of this nature use low bass cues (bass drops) to indicate when something nasty is about to happen. Young children are very sensitive to loud low noises (in a lot of ways they are like dogs in this respect), and when they want to watch a scary movie, the bass usually gets them running out of the room. Who knew?

Disney stock is at a 5 year low, does it make sense to buy and hold it?

Disney has revenues of about $83 billion with outstanding liabilities of about $74 billion. As their debt rolls over to higher interest rates, it'll make the executives squirm. They have to massively re-do their approach to films, their TV programming is on the decline and Verizon just stopped requiring Disney+ as a must have for their higher tier Unlimited Plans *this will reduce the number of Disney+ subscribers).

Looks like they are gonna try to sell, spin-off major parts of the entertainment portfolio to reduce their debt load.

I don't mind historical preservation, and I'm not against it. In fact, you might as well save everything, since it's so easy to do.

I think film is like paintings and photographs and will go the same way. I really think they are going to die out. Reality is far more interesting than a story. If you think about it, all the classic works were false history. The Bible, Roman Mythology. We can get real history today. Maybe for the first time ever.

Nobody depends on an "authority" to tell them what is going on, and all of our authorities in just the last 20 years have shown they are unreliable narrators.
