This year they are not reporting the number of cancelled flights because if they ignore the problem, then the problem will go away!

I had the chance to catch up with pilot Bob Snow at the “Restoring Hope” event hosted by React19 in Conroe, Texas, on July 22, 2023. Aug.14, 2023 - LATAM Airlines Flight LA505 (MIA-SCL) Miami to Santiago, Chile - 2 hours into 8hr flight, captain collapsed and died in the lavatory - plane diverted to Panama City - 3rd pilot collapse THIS WEEK!

56 year old captain pilot went into the washroom in the 2nd hour of the flight, saying he felt unwell.

Noticing that the captain had fallen in the sink, the cabin crew intervened with first aid, but the captain could not be revived.

NEW DELHI: A senior pilot — who had operated SpiceJet’s inaugural flight in 2003 and was currently working with Qatar Airways — died while flying as a passenger from Delhi to Doha on Wednesday morning. The Qatar Airways flight, QR 579, diverted to Dubai due to the medical emergency when the pilot, 51, fell ill onboard. However, he could not be saved.

“The pilot had worked with Alliance Air and spent 17 years in SpiceJet. He had operated SpiceJet’s first flight, Delhi-Ahmedabad, on May 23, 2005. Last year he had joined Qatar Airways where he was flying the Boeing 777,” SpiceJet sources said.

A long time colleague said, “He was very fit and his untimely demise has come as a big shock for everyone who knew him.”

The vaccine is dumb as can be but this is hyperbolic to the moon. We simply don't have enough young people training to be pilots to take the place of boomers as they retire. Vaccine illness is "maybe" less than 1% of the problem. Enrollment in military is down which is generally the gateway into commercial aviation to get "free" hours in the air. Enrollment is down in flight schools/colleges.

It's a demographic and want to do it issue, nothing to do with the vaccine 99%. You don't have to believe me, but it's fact. Young men and women don't want to get into the military or aviation in general. It's going to be a problem for the foreseeable future unless things change.

Listen, I didn't get the vaccine and I think it's stupid and unnecessary. But to say the VACCINE itself grounded 29,000 planes is comical during a busy travel week littered with software/scheduling issues, weather on the east cost, and an aging pilot demographic that wants that time of the year off. That's what happened.

Skimmed the article. This is clearly a disability ploy. Pilots can still work AND collect disability from the VA but the FAA seems to be catching on. Plenty of people do this with SSA. Just because you claim and take disability doesn't mean you're disabled. That's what the article is about. FAA is asking how are you disabled yet still flying. This has nothing to do with the vaccine. It's pilots gaming the system thinking they wouldn't get caught. Pretty smart honestly, but easy to unravel once it's caught, which that article makes it sound like the gig is over.
