There is no possible path for Trump to become Speaker. None. The reason? The RINOs represent a large block in the House and with very few exceptions, they will never cast a vote for Trump.

Jordan faces a similar problem. He's well known to be a Trump supporter, and, although far from perfect, he's a fighter. The establishment does not want fighters, they want compromisers that will go lock step with their nefarious agenda.

All kinds of deals are going to be made, as was the case with McCarthy, and a compromise, middle of the road type Rep. will emerge. He/she will be soft on border security, will go along with reckless spending, will continue to blindly support financially the failed effort in Ukraine, along with dramatically increasing aid to Israel, etc. In short, whoever becomes Speaker, it will be business as usual.

Speaker is an extended contract negotiation that can go on for quite a while. If it weren't a contract negotiation, McCarthy would still be in there. He violated the terms of his contract by becoming a Rino douche apparatchik in violation of his agreements when he was appointed.

Republicans Hate Their Base

While not perfect, Jordan as House speaker would be a major upgrade for GOP voters. Not only does he sport a more conservative voting record than former Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La., he’s also one of the founding members of the House Freedom Caucus.

So why, despite a groundswell of support among conservative voters, have a handful of Republicans decided to tank Jordan’s speakership bid? While anonymously sourced conspiracies are likely to dominate legacy media’s coverage of the issue, the real answer is likely much simpler: Many of these Republicans despise their voters.

I could kiss every single Republican in the House for not electing a Speaker (admittedly, some more enthusiastically than others, but I digress). Because of that, Biden’s aid package can’t be jammed through before anybody gets a chance to read it. Otherwise it would probably have already passed, since right after Biden’s speech the Senate voted 97-0 on a resolution supporting Israel.

The battle for Speaker is a very fine bit of passive-aggressive political jiu jitsu. What are they supposed to do? They don’t have a Speaker yet.

I don’t know whether they planned it this way or not, but the Republicans are looking like geniuses at this point. Take your time, Republicans. Do it right.
