I departed California in December 2020, so there were still pandemic effects.
But, San Francisco has hollowed out; the bums, addicts, and shoplifters have provided the coup de grace after the place was shut down for a while during the pandemic.
I had a fun visit to San Francisco right after they ordered us all to "shelter in place" in March 2020. The place was deserted, so no traffic anywhere I went. It reminded me of those post-apocalyptic movies.
A few people have YouTube videos of the deserted areas of San Francisco; it's amazing to see.
Before the pandemic, in Santa Cruz the homeless population was huge and it was ruining the downtown.
People generally don't know that the homeless are largely drug addicts who don't want a real place to live. Of course, there are exceptions.
SF is a shell of what it once was. Took the wife on a date night to the peninsula few weeks ago and she insisted on visiting Golden Gate Park. I was shocked that I could find ample free parking everywhere I went on a weekend. I was almost curious enough to drive thru the other tourist areas but fortunately she got tired and wanted to go home. But CA is a lost cause as all the libtards who moved out of the BA are turning their new areas blue, like Placer County where I am at. The entire Sacramento region has become the new BA. Homeless everywhere, violent crimes all over.
Where was it that you moved to? If I recall you were in Nevada for a bit? I'm still upset I didn't buy in Carson Valley when I had the chance.
SAN FRANCISCO STREETS MIRACULOUSLY CLEANED FOR APEC SUMMIT
The dirty streets of San Francisco, California were suddenly made spotless for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit, for which President Xi of China will be in attendance. The streets were also lined with gated fences.

You're getting libbies in Placer County? If I remember correctly, that's "MAGA" country by California standards...
Now I'm in Texas in a solid red state, loving it here as well. As long as the Demon-Rats don't follow me to my very bright red, very safe, and gun friendly county, I'll probably stay here until I die.
He kinda laughs, and says it's "different" in SF, and then changes the subject.
For the first time in years, I went to Downtown SJ to have dinner at Original Joe's.
You should visit now: rumor has it they cleaned all the shit up for the Xi Pingpong's visit.
How long do you figure it will stay clean?

Until all those Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit attendees trash the area.
Rumor has it Xi Pingpong himself is planning to take a huge dump in the middle of Market Street to celebrate the ancient SF tradition of public defecation.

If Xi does that, clumsy Biden is likely to step in it.
Also, where have you been hiding Goran? Or did you just take me off ignore?

That's my old workday turf.
Democrats are parasites/virus. You cannot stop them. The only way is to kill them if I'm being honest. And I'm not promoting that, but I'm just calling them what they are. Texas is doomed, you just don't know it yet. Learn to live amongst the parasites and figure out how to find like minded people to get off their fucking ass and do something.
I don't think they did. That recall was as scammy as the 2020 Presidential race results.
But let's be honest, more than likely, that wasn't a factor for Newsom winning re-election in 2022. He literally won by 2 million votes.

So how did the recall happen in the first place? And that's what it was, not an election. If you can make Biden look like the most popular candidate in US history, no number is insurmountable. Change the algorithm to switch half the remove votes to keep, there's your two million.
If you don't understand how they'll keep winning every "election" post 2020, I don't know what you tell you. Wake the fuck up, they aren't tying your hands behind your back before you step into the ring, they're fucking loping them off.
Also if California is just full of fraud, how did Republicans flip 4+ seats from blue to red last election which helped Republicans get the House? Why wouldn't Newsom just fraudulently prevent those flipped seats?

They save the fraud for the statewide (Governor and President, maybe Senate) positions. Statewide fraud allows one to pick the best precincts to manipulate. Not as much opportunity with smaller district elections.
California is full of parasites. They do vote for crazy left/commie shit. I cant even count how many Ive talked to and couldnt even comprehend how stupid and illogical thier thought process worked. They live in an alternate reality and any attempt to change that causes them to rage.
If you think CA voters dont vote for insanity you havent lived there long or roamed around in the cities and talked to enough people.

I try to avoid going back to California for any reason but because I still have family in the state, I am sometimes forced to visit the Bay Area. But there will be gaps of like 2-3 years between visits.
So in October, I land in SFO to visit my sister. My sister and her kids are still in the Burlingame area. Before I take my rental car down south, I visit a friend for dinner in SF. As I'm driving into the city on 80 and about to exit into SOMA, I begin to notice things are looking a little shabbier than I remember. We meet at a place near Market Street, and I begin to notice something weird. There are literally no retail stores open on the block. Literally all "for lease signs" and most windows are boarded up. The streets are also extremely empty. it's eerie to see. Of course you see a few buses, the odd cracked out homeless person stumbling around, but general foot traffic seems very low compared to what I remembered of SF long ago. Especially during dinner time.
Now my friend is a bit "liberal", so I try not to get too deep into political discussions. Also, I don't keep up with California politics much anymore, except whenever Gavin Newsom tries to insert himself onto national TV with some ridiculous proclamation (like banning all gas powered cars by 2035). But I had to ask him, "Why does it seem every business is closed in downtown and where is everyone?"
He replies, "Well, in the middle of the week it's basically quiet, wait until the weekend it gets very crowded."
I kinda gave him a puzzled look, "It's quiet and empty in the middle of the WORK week in a major city?" I told him it's not like that in Houston, Dallas, or Austin (I currently reside in Texas). The middle of downtown SF just seems extremely sad. Empty, closed down businesses, and lots of cracked out homeless people just laying down in the cold streets. This looks worse than some third world countries I've visited in my life.
He kinda laughs, and says it's "different" in SF, and then changes the subject.
My question to y'all who still live near a major California city, or the Bay Area, have you guys noticed a change over the past 5+ years? I swear my mind must be playing tricks on me because SF wasn't this bad in my memory.
