I thought O Brother, Where Art Thou? was pretty brilliant too.
It's a "bonafide" brilliant movie. One of my favorites.
Oh man, the fuchs is so coming home, the last post was 1000.
There is no thread bubble.
(not investment advice)
Oh BTW, in the second fuchs picture, that isn't glare off his eyes, it's the back of his head, from the inside. Nothing there. Empty.
Oh well, there is always 2000th post (this sunday) SQT.
Oh you are ambitious.
_Sigh_
Can't stay too long. I have to go and be all mom like and make dinner. No fun. I'd rather talk about movies and Fuch's. Oh well.
Give em pop tarts SQT. Stay!
Now that's funny, don't think it's going to happen though.
I do the cooking because my wife is like my cat, very pretty and very lazy. I kid I kid. :) but I do cook better than her, so I get that task.
or should I say fishdicks
Wow, no subtlety at all! Or am I missing something? Afraid the pop tarts aren't going to happen. My kids would love it though.
Well Surfer-X, at least she's pretty. Dare I say I'm both pretty and not lazy...._brings pinky up to lip a la' Dr. Evil_
For all you know I could be. ;)
I really should go before I say anything more ridiculous than my last post. Catch you all later. On to 2000!
One more before I go.
Now you have me TERRIFIED! My daughter's birthday is on 4/20. Evil evil people.
I was suggesting that SQT feed her family fish sticks, so she would not have to mess up her perfect hair slaving over a hot stove all evening.
You are very proper, better shape up before AARP (aka, the boomer mafia) stops by and rips your card up.
Are you saying that you dont want your daughter to know the bong SQT?
Alcoholics and drug addicts abound in the family. I want to keep her as far away from the bong as possible. I am the rare person who has never done any drugs. After watching my brother's make asses of themselves for years on end, I kind of thought, "Do I really want to do that?" It was pretty easy to stay away from the substances after seeing their example.
Ok. I'm really going now.
"1038 comments… I am priced out."
There is a loan to suit every need!
Oh no, our thread count is starting to look less like fine sheets and more like a tax form!
What was I thinking? I went and baited Stanman on the other thread. Man, now I'm in for some marathon post that might just find a way to bring immigration into the discussion, even though it has nothing to do with the conversation. _mental head slap_
Oops, I have to take it back. Stanman behaved himself. I was kicking myself for a moment there.
No Fuchs, but the previous record has not been eclipsed yet. Today is the day. Long live the Fuchs.
Wow, Stanman just made me sound like a raging feminist, which I am not. I would call myself more of a post-feminist traditionalist, whatever the hell that is. I just wrote a huge post that's so long no one will read it.
"And no wonder Jamie is, um, you know…… “how she is!â€"
Ha!
"How many pages a day do you write Jamie?"
I try for 10 double-spaced pages daily. That's long enough to get the "bugs" out and get into the story but not so long that I get burnt out. But I often don't make that goal. Some days I'm lucky to write one page, and other days when deadline is closing in I have been known to write 20 pages or more. 40 on a few very desperate occasions.
"Torrid. Very torrid."
Torrid is my middle name.
"Just like teaching art. It IS definitely “real†work, yet it beats real work!"
Exactly.
"crank crank out a ton of writing in a day, Every day. She gets in funks also."
It's very easy to burn out/get depressed/whatever when there's always a demand to write as fast as possible. I have weeks where I write nothing, just because it's impossible to keep being creative constantly. And there's business crap that gets in the way too, or creates other work to do besides writing. But I'm not complaining. I love it all.
I think I got lumped into the raging feminist group in Stanman's post too. Me? The stay at home mom? Go figure. I think that's why I was kind of snotty with him. But sometimes I get tired of the same old rants. It would be nice to know a reasonable argument could penetrate a thick skull once in awhile.
Jamie, 10 pages a day? That actually sounds doable. I just have to make myself sit still long enough, and not delete half of what I write to make it work. I mean, how many pages do you all figure we write on here on the "huh" thread day after day? If I put half as much energy into something productive I'd really be accomplishing something.
Was that Hadrian’s Wall?
We do seem to have hit the wall haven't we. Maybe 2000 just isn't meant to be.
"Jamie, 10 pages a day? That actually sounds doable. I just have to make myself sit still long enough, and not delete half of what I write to make it work."
It takes some trial and error to find the right steady output number. I know some people who can only do a few pages a day comfortably, and others who can do 15 or 20.
I think of it in terms of mini-goals when I'm writing a first draft. Like, if I already have the scene in my head and just need to put it on paper, I know i can write 5 pages an hour, so theoretically two hours and I'm done. More often, it takes 3-5 hours, but I've gotten slower over the years as the echos of past rejections crowd my head. ;-)
"As a poet"
Newsfreak, I love poetry and used to read and write it a lot before I became a pulp fiction slave. :-)
I think poetry and childrens' books are the two hardest things to write. So few words, so they have to be the perfect words, in the right order.
"Ah, morning…….. A light rain. Dirt always smells so good in the first rain."
You should smell the desert when it rains. It's like liquid dirt.
You should smell the desert when it rains. It’s like liquid dirt.
Jamie, in the desert you can remember your name, cuz there ain't no one there for to give you no pain.
Jack, Jack, Jack, thou protest too much. Remember, if you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with.
I kid I kid
;)
