My mother's father was a ward something in Chicago. I never really paid attention because I was a kid.

But I know he was a Democratic Party apparatchik and got a job as a court bailiff in the Daly Building downtown, maybe as a reward for political something.

Daly himself was buried just down the street from where I grew up ages 0-9:



We lived on Lombard, and Daly was buried in Holy Sepulchre where my dad's parents and many aunts and uncles are.
