This place is not going to get any better with all the good people fleeing to Florida and Texas. I keep saying California is far too beautiful to abandon it to the Commies, Crazies and Trannies.

Besides, I got my house early with a super affordable mortgage and can't give up the Pacific Ocean.

California is ready for revolution back. I can sense it, but it is hard to gauge.

When I see hippie fucks with their straggly beards aggressively petitioning recall signatures, something has reversed, and even they realize their votes don't count. They are beginning to see that California is occupied by KommieKunt appointees at behest of Globalist terror.

Why resistance is so lethargic probably has a lot to do with the limousine liberals being able to nominally continue their wine train existences while the Hun hammer at the door. Denial, Denial, Denial. Tri Valley has an amazing and accelerating uptick in crime, turning from soft crime to more strong arm crime. Police are still quite effective, but how long will that last?

Local blogs have turned into crime reports in contrast to the olden days when they were about missing cats, garage sales, and handyman requests. Politicians have managed to wedgie the Netflix Section 8 crowd in, but they seem to stay for a while and then leave because of the costs, to be replaced by others.

Elon has a daughter infected with the "trans" mental illness iirc. I think she won't talk to him anymore and that's what first woke up Elon to the satanic evil of wokeness.

The Atlantic varies more from warmer to colder, but is certainly warmer in the summer.

I can say, however, that anything over 60 F feels warm for Santa Cruz and doesn't happen very often, mostly stays in the mid to upper mid 50's. Only in some years does it go above 60.

When I went to Maui, the water was so warm it felt like warm spit. It was kind of strange after Santa Cruz.

I don't swim in it. I surf and wear a wetsuit all year round. I try to get out at least once a week.

Hard to find better and more consistent waves anywhere in North America than what I got in North San Diego County. I plan to surf well into my 70's if my body holds up.

And that cold Pacific has kept my area in the mid to low 70 degree temperature this past month while the rest of the West Coast (even Portland!) has been baking in triple digit heat. It's perfect!

Yeah, but with a 3% mortgage and 8% inflation even the assholes running CA have a hard time fucking up your returns. If you sell and move you should probably buy your new house at least with 50%, best 100% cash, to avoid getting reamed by the mortgage rates brought to you by xidenflation.

I see people make this error consistently re California and elsewhere.

$400k buys you a nice 3000sq ft home in an older and dated suburb of Dallas(think equivalent of West Covina neighborhood of LA). A million buys you damn near a mansion. In San Antonio, it’s less and $600 k gets a suburban McMansion. Anyone who bought pre 2020 has substantial equity. Maybe enough for an equivalent all cash out of state. Anyone who bought in CA pre 2015 has the equity for all cash equivalent out of state.

The same equation plays out all across the country. Tennessee, Florida, Utah, etc. Gorgeous neighborhoods, conservative values, etc. If you can deal with remote locations, it’s cheaper and the environment in terms of crime, raising kids, etc cannot be beat. Twin Falls ID, Kallispell MT, and Johnson City TN come to mind. Johnson City is just plain inexpensive. Kallispell you build your own home on prior farmland 5 miles outside city limits.

Holding onto California real estate due to low interest rates as one’s sole reason is pretty silly unless you bought in 2020 or something.

There is no ceding, it’s already done. If LA County residents had the homelessness they have and the crime they have, and still voted in Gascon as DA, Karen Bass as LA mayor, and Luna as Sheriff, the are blind, dumb, and don’t care.

Frankly, there are people who are just stupid. Like can’t see crime right in front of their face. And will argue with you tooth and nail that no real crime occurred when you witness a theft. California won’t fix until it financially fails, and that’s probably not happening if it hasn’t happened already.

Countryside is different (so we got outta SF and into wine country a while ago). And I haven't met someone like you describe above in a long while now. They are all aware and complain about the crime. Whether it will translate into election and govt changes remains to be seen. Btw. Many bigger cities in other states have the same issues, Austin, Denver, Chicago, NY etc.

Forgot about Portland lol def worse than SF when I last visited. Beautiful city though otherwise. Then you have nice and clean suburbias like Lake Oswego close by. Also Seattle once great now not so much
