I think my stance has been known here on name changes. I don't like them. You are correct though that the change was accurate. I'll give you credit. I think a Dems are fucked thread would have been better is all.

With the name change you can run from past comments is my point. A new user won't know what you previously posted. Between IWOG, Dan, Rich and the other guy that recently cut the patnet cord from Yuma, I just don't get it.

Give a retirement post from patnet being positive. Say you enjoyed your time. I hate it when people leave like a toddler having a tantrum. That's the way it seems to go most the time here when a long time user goes. I'll probably retire from the site when Patrick pulls it down or I'm dead. I've said my fair share of stupid shit and some spot on info and advice. Take or leave it. When I lay down at night I give no fucks. I enjoy my life. 2 weeks to Mexico. The site is pretty good at keeping poster's history tracked no matter the screen name. So I don't see a problem with handle change, it's fun and I've done it myself many times.

Right, your user ID number doesn't change even if you've changed your screen name.

Quoted comments is my issue. If the previously quoted comment changed with the new username fine. It doesn't. I've been here long enough and can tell who is who generally. If I look up a post from 2017 I could maybe guess the user, but who knows. There are some that change every 3 months. I don't get the purpose really.

Basically I find it to be a way to hide bad takes and opinions. When I'm wrong I'm wrong. I don't leave the site or change usernames. I was wrong on MN for the election. I was convinced Trump would win that state. Well fuck me running I was wrong. Pissed, but I'm not running from my take on it. It happens frequently where someone says something wrong or stupid and changes their name here is my point.

No interest in calling out specific users, but a lot are active and do it relatively frequently after a bad take.
