Economically and just practically, the math doesn't work.
Just like there isn't a thriving bush plane sector in Europe & Japan, but there is in Alaska, Australia, Canada & parts of Brazil & Africa.
On the other hand, trains usually go right into the center of town so you save time there.

And those don’t require you leave home three hours before your flight to SF or LV. It only takes a few minutes to go through TSA at those locations. And those flights can be had for $99-120 round trip. And quicker overall than any train.
