My local multiplex doesn't even bother to check your ticket anymore. You just waltz in and go to see whatever movie tickles your fancy. Not sure if true for premiers or busy weekend nights, but on your average weekday they only make $$ from popcorn and himotdogs. This is not advertised, of course, so many folks still buy tickets, LOL.

OPM directs agencies to fire government workers still on probation

Office of Personnel Management (OPM) officials met with agency leaders across government Thursday and directed them to begin firing employees still in their probationary period a year or more after being hired.

Federal employees remain on probation anywhere from one to two years after being hired, depending on their agency, a status that still comes with workplace protections but makes them easier to remove.

The move could impact as many as 200,000 federal employees.

A source familiar with OPM said agency leaders have directed agencies to fire all probationary employees “with some exceptions.” It was not immediately clear what those exceptions were or the extent of discretion given to agencies.

“The probationary period is a continuation of the job application process, not an entitlement for permanent employment. Agencies are taking independent action in light of the recent hiring freeze and in support of the President’s broader efforts to restructure and streamline the federal government to better serve the American people at the highest possible standard,” an OPM spokesperson said in a statement.

The move is a reversal from an OPM directive just days earlier, when agencies were told to remove probationary employees only if they were poor performers.

Even if they did it's run by teenagers most the time. You just walk past like you're deaf. At least myself they're not gonna try to stop me. Putting hands on me would be a poor move. Call the cops? Fortunately I just don't go 99% of the time. When I do it's a themed one with food and drinks served at your seat. We have a cool one about 30 minutes away, but I've only been once as I've yet to be compelled to watch new movies at all. I liken movies now to cover bands. There's no more good original work. It's all Marvel and Star War types with similar themes.

You think? I'll be blunt, have blacks lost the will to cook over time or something? They're good cooks. I know single moms and tons of babies or whatever, but it's not hard to cook a decent and more healthy meal in under 30 minutes.

I say blacks because per capita they're the higher users of food stamps. Not overall numbers. There's a fair share of white trash so not picking on blacks.

With EBT/food stamps? I do it all the time as a normal consumer. It's just faster. Usually have to call in a 21 to scan or approve the booze on the belt with an underage cashier. That can take a minute. Usually they see me walk up and it's done in 10 seconds.

Never understood all the anger with self checkout. I don't like dealing with people that don't want to be at their jobs. I think that's worse.
