California could run two high-speed rail lines that at least break even

Not really. The cost isn't just the ticket but also time. And since this train will be making many stops along the way..

Weird, I never wrote that. I text-searched this entire thread. Plus, I don't think any high-speed train could be profitable in California.

I think Trump needs to take all the convicted criminal rapefugess, load them into locked steel containers, and set them adrift out to sea, where they can roast and cannibalize each other until they die. The remainder who haven't committed crimes can just join in the mass deportation.

Anyone invading the US should be met with heavy machine gun fire.

I mean it. Either we have a border or we don't.

Should just be motion sensing machine guns. You don't need anyone besides maintenance. Easily doable. If within 100'-200' you're getting 500 rounds a minute tossed your way. Put down land mines in front and behind the wall. Build a basic cheap fence and put 4,000 german Shepard's 1/2 mile off the US side of the wall for those that trench. Trained to attack. Male and female so they can fuck and reproduce. Make sure the mines need 100lbs of force to discharge.

Could also put some fresh water sharks (bull sharks) in the Rio Grande. We should be putting animals to use more often. We used to have a service put German Shepards in condos being built for security so copper and tools wouldn't be stolen. Animals are great weapons.

Quote from patriots.win:

Look, Roberts is about to be the deciding vote in the very obvious Dellinger case which will allow trump to fire any executive branch employee appointed by the president. Roberts doesn't want to look like the supreme court is biased. so he's basically putting on this case. If you read the order, the majority basically tells the district court to set a timeline for the funds that is feasible. The trump admin already laid out a timeline, and if the district court says no to that timeline the the administration can appeal.

Basically Roberts will step in and give the admin as much time to review the contracts as they need. There's the issue of jurisdiction, but again, Roberts knows that the TRO itself is basically toothless so he's not going to address that now (he's the swing vote because Barrett inexplicably will vote witht he left on every key issue)

Roberts isn't what I'd hoped he'd be. But I think more than anything he's trying to keep the court relevant. If he rules the wrong way in the Dellinger case, trump will just ignore the order. But this case is a big nothing burger to begin with. The admin never said they werent going to pay for legitimate work performed. Just that they were reviewing the contracts. They now have the time they need to do that.

Not a perfect decision, but not a train wreck.

The year is 1972. The RAND corporation proposes building a cross-country networks of maglev trains in vacuum sealed tunnels to carry passengers and freight at 14,000 mph kilometers beneath the surface of the Earth.

We used to dream.

This sounds like an improv assignment for a theater course.

He cries like a pussy. WTF? He's apparently male, why not get angry instead? I agree it's probably staged.

I agree it's probably staged.

Had my first taste of cable and regular TV for the first time in years. Insomniac and on a cruise with no internet, so watched the in room TV.

Holy fuck. I watched a couple news stations, the two being MSNBC and FOX (no choices really). I don't know how MSNBC makes money. EVERY single ad spot was for their other shows. FOX is apparently a big pharma network at this point, but I suppose they make money as sick (pun intended) as it is.

Back to the quoted comment, everything is staged and it's as obvious as can be. I've just been ignoring it for years and had my first relapse not under my control of watching TV. Cut the cable if you haven't. Saves money, but more importantly brainwashing. It's bad.

Did that over 10 years ago. Now it's mostly catalogue movies (older than 10 or 20 years) unless something truly exceptional comes along; e.g. Apollo 11. Jaw dropping, and it's a fucking documentary.

With all the @richwicks bashing recently, I'll say this for him. He decided to stop watching any works of fiction, because he claimed that it conditioned people to perceive fake emotions (like acting) as real, and thus made it easier for psychos to manipulate them. I forget which post of his that was.

They make money from feed-in tariffs, not ads. Not like network TV at all.

But that is all going away as these 20yr old bundling agreements are coming to an end.

And likely USAID subsidies.
