Thanks for update.
Someone had lots of money I think. And, what the heck is 1/4 bathroom?

realtor-speak for a hole in the ground where you take a crap.

LOL.
One more proof that not all rich people are wise with their money. :)
seems bit unreasonable. unless Elizabet Taylor lived there I'd question the validity/accuracy of that sale data.
I don't believe it - 850k was the 2006 sales price. I doubt that anybody would pay 2006 prices...lets wait a month until all the data has caught up.

Look at what I just posted. Sold in 2010 for 150k more than in 2005:

Clear case - it must be the railway behind the house. Priceless!
I love comments about specific property like this!
How can I integrate posts like these with the "Addresses" forum so people can easily look up comments about this address on the forum?
I know it's kind of a pain to type in the exact address when writing a post or doing a search. Maybe there's some easier way. Anyway, people like to write their own titles for posts, and the Addresses forum requires an address for the title. Maybe the address should be a subtitle?
Or maybe the Addresses forum should just be organized by zip code instead? One forum per zip code?

I went to the open house. That bathroom appears, literally, to have formerly been a small closet into which they inserted a toilet. So small that a tall person's knees would hit the door when it's closed.

Sorry Patrick if I posted this in the wrong place, wasn't paying attention! Still learning the ropes here :-)

People will do anything to get a house here it seems, they love the school district. All logic goes out the door. This house is across the street from an elementary school, a block from the middle school, and about four blocks from the high school. Still, I just don't get it...
Re the good-schools-add-value-to-neighboring-houses argument, read Robert Frank's Economic View column in today's 4/3 NYT business section.

Will do, thanks!

if it's anything like here in the nicer areas there's not many alternatives. To rent a house like this house in Los Gatos you'd be looking at paying $4k per month in rent.
Which may be cheaper than buying but still that's a lot of money to be throwing away in rent.

So glad I didn't have kids!

Thanks for the update... I like to read how more "tales" end up.

This may be another example of how housing in some cases equalizes the wealth -- when wealthy people buying depreciating assets see their net worth decline:
I am curious about the negative recs here (if anyone wants to confess). Is the neg rec. saying his post is trivial, uninteresting, or rather a way of saying "bad move" about the person who bought the house? (or maybe the post has too many annoying comments, like mine LoL!)

You mean "her" post, lol! I don't like all the thumbs down either...oh well!
Just thought I'd give y'all an update...
