I don't understand how it being dropped on the floor would cause salmonella.
It's amazing the pure SHIT these American fast food Icons serve in other countries. Mc Donald's, Burger King and KFC(especially) rely on the recognition of their name. There for they make 0 attempt to actually reproduce the actual menu items they sell here in the states abroad. Or hold franchisees accountable for any standards.
Every American fast food place I have tried out side of the US, resemble their product in logo only.
The KFC in Lima has a bowl of homemade Mayonnaise that has the appearance of Vasoline for the sole available condiment, and the Chicken they serve look nothing or taste nothing like their Chicken.
Not to say the quality of these American eateries has not gone down hill in the past few years. But eating this crap in other countries is literally taking your life in your own hands.
You far better off sticking with the local fare, even it means eating monkey brains from the skull.

LOL! you prefer roasted crickets ! or the other unmentional food served in other countries... if you saw any of that shit you be crying for a bite of MCD Burger...or atleast some French Fries.
I'll eat local fare over our misdone corporate fare. Hell I'll eat a Pigs Ass if it's prepared right. "Prepared Right" being the qualifier.

I was thinking on the order of some filipino balut. Pork Butt you can order anyplace in the states.. smoked of course!.
If you can swallow balut, without choking or crying, your a braver man than me!

Why would anybody travel overseas if they were afraid of the local food? Food is the best way to understand another culture.
That's like my aunt that has never left Florida and she comes to visit me in LA and wants to go shopping at the Coach store--as if they don't already have those in every mall in Florida.
People wake up and taste the buffet of life!

If they serve food that's been dropped on the floor, they probably also drip raw chicken on the floor. There are sooooo many ways to contaminate the floor, and the five second rule doesn't actually work.
Monika Samaan fell ill with salmonella poisoning after eating a "Twister" wrap at a KFC restaurant near Sydney in 2005. A judge of the Supreme Court of the state of New South Wales awarded the A$8m damages after ruling last week that KFC had breached its duty of care to the girl.
The court was told that Monika was in a coma for six months after she, her parents and brother fell ill with vomiting and diarrhoea after sharing the wrap, the AAP news agency reports. The other family members all recovered.
The family's lawyer told the court that at busy times, the restaurant would reuse chicken that had been dropped on the floor.
So what is the lesson? Make sure you really should buy insurance? Cook at home instead?
