I had that same thought. Definitely a sentient and playful creature.

I used to think chickens are just brain dead and therefore fine to raise and slaughter in factories. But then we had chickens, and we realized they all have distinct "chickenalities" kind of like personalities. There's definitely somebody home in each one of them. So now we're just about the only meat eaters I know who don't eat chicken.

It's not so much the eating of chicken or other creatures that bothers me, it's the circumstances of their lives and deaths.

The other side of this equation, is they wouldn't exist otherwise, and I did dog rescue - the worst thing I've ever done was to kill my dogs, but it was also the most merciful thing I've done. But I can't repeat it.

I can say this, if I have to kill an animal, it should be painless, and they can never know I did it. I had that ability with my dogs. They loved the vet. But, my last dog I had to put down was in 2017, and I still feel shitty about what I had to do. My other dog was in 2014, and I feel worse about that. I love dogs, but that was a trauma I don't want to go through again. I know I gave them an easy death, but what a shitty thing I did.

I still remember when I took them in that I thought they would be dying around me being 45, but that was so far away.. Now my own death doesn't seem so far away.

They just aren't machines are they?

I know that feeling. There should be a name for it, since probably everyone feels that after a certain age.

But there are meaningful things to do between now and then.

Fix what I did do wrong. I worked on the early Internet, I trusted corporations. I'm going to try to attempt decentralize it entirely.

IPV6 would have made it trivial but that's something that will never happen though.

Get a box, that's your site, this can be done.

Nothing worse than a chicken with borderline personality on a crying jag.

Haha, it was relatively easy to construct the series of tubes, surprisingly..

Seriously, I used to like Clinton. Over time, I came to realize he was nothing but a rapist, a drug runner, a criminal, and his wife, a piece of shit just as horrible as he was.

The purpose of this communication device is education first. I was very shocked to see George W. Bush able to lie us into a war in Iraq, thought it was a failure then, but I was on this communication device in 1989. I was basically 10 years ahead of the times.

I was very pleased to see a carnival barker like Trump win the presidency over that filthy Neocon fuck Hillary Clinton. I gave up too soon, and now I'm going back into it.

You really really honestly can't appreciate the power you all have. This site will fit on a $20 SD Card, the entire thing. You can run it on your home system, on a 10 watt $75 computer called a raspberry pi. That little TOY is more powerful than the MAINFRAME I started out with.

Our last mission is to distribute this power. A website shouldn't require registration, and a server at god knows where, it should be a box, you plop down next to a router, and turn on. It should be that fucking simple. It will consume 5 watts, nothing.

This communication device can allow voice, video, file sharing, data collection, general communication, everything. It can replace phones, television, film theaters, everything. We can replace public education here. Not only replace, but VASTLY improve.

On a TOY I can do nuclear bomb simulation now. I never saw this as a possibility in my lifetime as a junior engineer, but we're at the point where I thought we'd be when I was 100. You really have no concept, and can't understand, what your simple, machine can do today. Software is lagging WELL behind hardware. That is FAR from being impossible to fix.

Because if you do, you're INSANE.

This is hilarious and spot on.

I grew up very close to one of the two Bay Area towns that many refer to as “Little Manila”

a.) Hercules, CA
b.) Daly City, CA

I had this same problem in western Ireland. It often takes a while before you can tell if someone is speaking Irish Gaelic, which has zero overlap with English, or speaking English with a heavy Irish accent.
