I once saw a bunch of seagulls and pigeons milling around together eating bread crumbs some people were throwing to them. Suddenly one of the seagulls grabbed a pigeon by the neck, killed it, and started eating it; horrifying but fascinating.

I once said to an older woman “permitame (allow me) introducirme,” thinking of the English verb introduce. In Spanish, introducirme literally means “to insert myself.” You can imagine her shocked expression.
