The news is not necessarily the truth. Don't "rush to jusgement", if the glove don't fit you must acquit. In America a person is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, just in case you forgot.
The law was Not intended to give...blah, blah, blah. The law of unintended consequences is at work here. Thats something liberals are never concerned with. It seems they lack the 'cause and effect' gene.
They prefer to have the appearance of doing good, without being concerned about the wreckage caused as a RESULT of their never ending oppressive laws. Case in point: The Community Reinvestment Act. We've been experiencing the damage caused by that FEEL GOOD LAW since 2006...and there's possibly three to five years to go before things are stablized.
Three to five is what the politicians should have gotten. Carter, Clinton, Barney, and the rest of the scum bags involved. Sociopaths, white collar criminals, the emeny within, financial terrorists.
Dan, skin tone is something liberals are concerned with, though all liberals will deny it. True conservatives, on the other hand, judge everyone by the content of their character, not by the color of their skin. You seem to have a lot of inner anger and rage.
Get some rest, take some aspirin, read LIberty Defined, and you'll feel better.
The thing that bothers me, is how they are making this a race issue. And you hit the nail on the head with this title. This isn't about race, it's about the Condo Commando and the "Florida's stand your ground law".
The problem is people are now trying to make it a race issue, that is why the opposition is able to pull the "FSYG" law out of their ass for a counter argument.
How come it just can't be against the law for Goober Gomez to randomly shoot people, especially when the 911 official told him not to follow the kid. We got enough to hang this creep on, why does race have to play into it?

Some racist follows an unarmed 17-year-old African American boy. The boy buys candy and iced tea at a convenience store and continues walking home. The neighborhood watch scumbag stalks the boy, murders him with a gun, and then claims he was acting under Florida's stand your ground law, which states that a person can defend himself from an attacker rather without fearing legal prosecution.
The law was intended so that victims of violent crimes like rape, robbery, and attempted murder could fight back without risking prosecution. It was not intended to give a person the right to pro-actively engage someone in battle, and if you win -- which isn't hard when your armed with a gun and the other person is a minor with no weapons -- then you get away with murder. However, the police didn't arrest the murderer. After all, the victim did look suspicious. He had suspicious skin tone.

And that is why I hate social conservatism. A boy with his entire life ahead of him, snuffed out because of some stupid reptilian xenophobia.
