Taxes go up 4% on the poor and middle class!

Payroll taxes up 2%!
Obamacare 2%

how are people going to live, those who earn the national avg $26K

The payroll tax cut should be made permanent for incomes under $40k

The republicans refused to extend it!

Nice try.

#1.) The "fiscal cliff" deal originated from the WhiteHouse and Senate. Both currently controlled by democrats.

#2.) In the house a majority of Democrats voted for the deal.

#3.) Majority of Republicans in the house voted AGAINST the bill.

Please play again.

Boehner represents only one half of the country that works and gets nothing from the government.
If he has his way, taxes will be zero.
That's how a republic is established.

Obama represents the other half that doesn't work and gets paid for not working.
If he has his way, taxes will be 100%
That's how Lenin and Castro built a community.

So you think in the USSR and Cuba, taxes were 100% and nobody worked?

Glad to see you understand history. You might want to actually learn what tax rates were in these regimes.

(morons confusing taxation for communism or socialism seems to be a recurring theme. It's like they don't understand what those economic systems even are)

No need for fact checking, everyone! Move along!

If you understand that the Republican's goal is to make government as small as possible, NOT to "balance the budget", their proposals all make complete sense.

These idiots would gladly accept a 100% reduction in revenue for a 50% reduction in spending.

38   pdh   @   2013 Jan 3, 5:25pm

Republicans don't want small government, they want government to be small when it does things they don't like, which doesn't really move the debt needle at all. If they wanted smaller government they would have done something about it when they had the power to do it.

They haven't had the power to do it. What they want is to end every non-defense program. They can't do that without popular support, which is why they're operating the way that they do:

- Get temporary tax cuts passed.
- Fight to make some or all of those cuts permanent.
- Force budget cuts to pay for the tax cuts.
- Insist that defense spending be protected.
- Add means testing to big social programs to turn people against them.

My Check is $20 short

That's one less bag of diapers, I can't afford.
because...
That's two cases of Keystone beer.
or
That's a half a carton of cigarettes.
or
4 gallons of gas
or
That's 1/2 hour of being insured and healthy in this country.

Put in an extra hour of work a week if you need those diapers. Income remains the same.

Lazy bum.

I can't because some liberal bum in HR says no overtime.

You can't get a second job?

Are you willing to purge geezers to greenland? Fuck keystone, free heineken and stoli for volunteers!

Mine is roughly $50 less - will get a bunch of it back through additional principal prepayments on mortgage and hopefully a good return on IRA max.

Got our email from HR this morning... Lots of proud Obama voters are somewhat miffed... Makes this almost worthwhile...

Whoever didn't understand that the conversation about taxes was about income taxes and not about payroll taxes does not deserve sympathy - doesn't matter who they voted for or what their political leanings are.

45   david1   @   2013 Jan 4, 1:19am

Am I the only one here that was given a raise? My take home income, net of the payroll tax hike, went up.

46   Tenpoundbass   @   2013 Jan 4, 1:22am

OMG! The parking lot is full of people ripping Obama/Biden 2012 stickers off of their cars, they are stomping on them... They are now brushing them into a big pile of shredded plastic and paper... They are now dousing them with petrol... and now lighting the bumper sticker pile ablaze. Oh the humanity the flames are shooting up to the roof. It's pandemonium.
Oh no someone in a Hoodie got to close to the bonfire, and caught on fire, he's running around in circles. The HR lady is out there now with a fire extinguisher, but due to budget cut backs, it hasn't been checked since Bush was in office. Everyone is now kicking the guy in the hoodie trying to extinguish the flame.
Oh no, they are starting to like kicking the burning man in the hoodie, they see the poor guy as a metaphor for all of the money they lost in their 401K on Facebook.

47   Y   @   2013 Jan 4, 4:32am

I just gave myself a 500 raise to offset the increase.

Shouldn't that be interest payments?? Or do you deduct principal payments from your taxes??

Planning to add more than b4 to principal prepayments to save more on interest over life of loan to make up for the social security increase.
