"The political and commercial morals of the United States are not merely food for laughter, they are an entire banquet."
- Mark Twain in Eruption
I'm rather disappointed in Obama. I really wanted to see a few tabloid photos of Barack caught smoking up and writhing with a couple of 20yo hotties in San Tropez. Or at least having Beyonce & Scarjo over for pool parties. I mean the man just isn't living up this PRESIDENT gig at all, he's taking it all SERIOUS and shit.
Oh yeah, good ole "hey pull my Finger" Obama is taking it serious alright.
Bill Ayers once hiked the Appalachian Trail.
His Trailname was "Birth Certificate"
This thread illustrates the hypocrisy of the right quite clearly. If the right truly cared about "family values" then they would be upset with Mark Sanford for his hypocrisy on this very issue and would seek to replace him with someone who really cared for and lived by "family values". Instead, they won't admit that he's a hypocrite and try to somehow blame the left on this issue, which makes no sense whatsoever.
As I said in the original post, I would have no problem with Sanford's infidelity and would consider it purely a personal issue, if it were not for the fact that he venomously attacked Clinton for the same issue and campaigned as the "family values" politician, and passed legislation based on "family values".
Yet as obvious as this hypocrisy is, the right-wing nut jobs simply cannot acknowledge the existence of hypocrisy in their party because it's all "us versus them" to both the far right and the far left. It is exactly this us vs them mentality that makes both extremes batshit crazy.
That said, the batshit crazy extremist make only a fringe element of the Democrats, whereas they represent almost the entirety of the Republicans. This point is reflected in the makeup of PatNet. I can point to loons on both sides. I can point to reasonable Democrats and independents. Off the top of my head, I cannot point to one firm Republican that isn't batshit crazy. Maybe such an animal exists, but his voice is drowned out by all the lunatics.

Look at how the nutjobs worship Sarah palin. The loser con artist from Alaska, that was pregnant when she married, and her kids have all had kids out of wedlock. Everything the right wing likes to brag about and profess that the reason they are amoral, she's done the exact opposite.
And they love her. And the dumbshits keep giving her money to listen to her continuous-victim routine. But she bashes the enemies of the low IQ base of the right, and that's why she's idolized by them. If you point it out to any one of them, it's like explaining gravity or that the earth isn't flat.

I would have no problem with Mark Sanford banging as many women as he wants and disregarding all of his marriage vows and his family, if it weren't for the hypocrisy. A politician's personal life is not a public issue unless that politician makes family, marriage, fidelity political issues. And that is exactly what Mark Sanford has consistently done.
And it is precisely because of this hypocrisy that we should not tolerate the Mark Sanfords of the world or give them a second chance. The sheer hypocrisy of Sanford's attacks on Clinton is what really undermines our system of government.
