Which is exactly why the public should be tough on the crime of wrongful prosecution and demand these bastards be locked away for at least twice the maximum consecutive sentences of the charges they trumped up.

Eventually, Hunt was arrested on two counts of felony lewd and lascivious battery on a child ages 12 to 16.

Utterly ridiculous charges.
1. There was nothing lewd or lascivious and the very terms are prejudicial.
2. There was no battery by any honest definition.
3. The two persons were both adolescents, not children. 15 and 5 are not equivalent by any standard.
4. The only crime here is the victimization of both girls by the state.

I know a girl who was a registered sex offender because when she was 17, she gave a Sophomore a few months before his 16th birthday, a hummer behind the bleachers.

When she was in her 20s, her boyfriend got the shit beat out of him coming out of his house by vigilantes, who saw there was a registered sex offender living at that address, since a sex offender "Must" be male.

She also can never live downtown in most places because of proximity to schools, even though she is not the least bit of a true pedophile.

I was hoping for something more along the lines of what you see late night on Cinemax.

There was some guy a few years back who almost hit a young teen with his car after she ran out into the street like a three-year-old. Right or wrong, he got out of his car and grabbed her arms and yelled at her for so thoughtlessly risking her life. He was arrested for holding her against her will. He, too, was registered as a sex offender because apparently holding a child against her will qualifies as a sex offense (the context, it seems, is irrelevant, at least in this case). It happened somewhere in the Midwest. Wish I could find that article. It was very sad. Even the judge said that having to put the guy on the sex offender's registry wasn't right.

The worst part of these examples is that it takes resources away from the real victims and criminals.

The trouble with "witch hunt" justice is, once the wheels begin grinding, NOTHING can stop them, not even the "victim" rebutting the prosecution. Indeed, "the victim" is a minor and the accused would NOT be able to face them in open court or cross examine them. The prosecution would probably have "the victim" barred from the courtroom.

I also remember the case of the teenage girl running into the street. She probably cussed the driver out, too. Now he is a "sex offender" for life, even the judge said it was inappropriate but claimed his hands were tied.

Where are all those Second Amenders rallying to defend freedom and justice? This is more than a just cause for rounding up all those responsible for this malevolent prosecution of innocents. Show me how those guns enable you to stop this specific tyranny.

The problem here is that true pedophilia is so rampant and also so abhorrent to good people that it provokes a very emotional response. The solution to this problem is quite simple. Those responsible for the prosecution or conviction of innocent persons should be forced to serve twice the maximum sentence of the false charges. This includes prosecutors, police, judges who fail to protect due process, jury members, and any false witnesses or accusers.

The fear of being punished for attacking a non-witch will prevent witch hunts. None of this bullshit about spending $2 million in tax payer's money to make the real victims go away while the real criminals named above get off scot free. That provides no incentives for the guilty to change their ways and provides no deterrent for others.

The fact that kids marry and make babies later has 0% to do with ethics and 100% to do with opportunities.

(Smart) Kids delay having babies until their twenties because modern day success requires higher education (or technical training), powered by birth control.

I would actually argue that because of more socialization (schools full of peers, telephones, internet) AND nutrition (how many 1st World Kids endure a period of starvation prior to puberty?), people mature Faster than they did previously. Until the 20th Century, most teenagers could count a few dozen peers at best, today all but a tiny minority have access to a hundred peers or more.

I believe the average age of first menstruation is 11-12 today; in the 19th Century it was 13-14, and females that had not yet menstruated by then were not all that unusual - today they are exceedingly rare, and almost always some serious health condition underlies it.

They're probably just L.U.G. anyways, don't see what parents get so upset about.

Back in the 1950's, when Jerry Lee Lewis got married to his 13-year-old cousin, the resulting controversy reduced his popularity but nobody went to prison. That was before the prison industrial complex grew enormously, starting in the 1980s. Human nature hasn't changed, but incarceration has increased dramatically as it's become more lucrative.
