Maybe I'm the one with a confused grasp of history, maybe not. As more and more people awaken to the idea that the us dollar is more of a mode of control, then it is, a means of exchange (primary purpose of a currency) and that many more would benefit from its dissolution, then would suffer. So these alternative currencies spring up, and people discuss them as "investments" (weirder still). My understanding is, when the USD does fail and is ushered to the halls of history, it won't happen nice and neatly, and you won't be waiting in line to trade your dollars for the new currency, in some sort of FMV exchange.
The whole thing will collapse, and just as it always has before, will be replaced by something else
Errc if USD will collapse the world will collapse.
Every reserve currency in history has collapsed, the world is still here.

I always thought it sounded fishy. And looks like government is cracking down on it, pure money laundering.
I remember someone posted an article talking about investing into some company that would make virtual currency. Well, just beware, they might get shut down.
