That chief should be fired and should lose his pension for putting the ability to cover up mistakes in front of public safety.
Filming the scene may have violated both firefighters' and victims' privacy, Hayes-White said, trumping whatever benefit came from knowing what the footage shows.
"There comes a time that privacy of the individual is paramount, of greater importance than having a video," Hayes-White said.
That's a load of crap. The TSA rape scanners and molestations violated the victims' privacy. The firefighters doing their job aren't doing that job in private. And the value to make sure the job is done right and to learn from mistakes is literally a matter of life and death.
This asshole is risking the lives of everyone who flies in order to prevent there being evidence in cases involving wrong doing. Fire his ass and take away his pension.

She doesn't seem worried about the risk of getting fired or losing her pension. After all, if fire trucks and paramedics are allowed to have cameras, then some people might suggest the same for police. We all must therefore insist on our right to privacy when being run over and possibly butchered, in order to ensure the same right to privacy when being beaten or shot by police. Everyone knows that.
It's the Iraq war principle. The people who tell the truth get punished (e.g. Bradley Manning), while the ones who support the official lie get promoted and collect their pensions.

"San Francisco's fire chief has explicitly banned firefighters from using helmet-mounted video cameras, after images from a battalion chief's Asiana Airlines crash recording became public and led to questions about first responders' actions leading up to a fire rig running over a survivor.

It is not clear how many San Francisco firefighters and paramedics have such cameras, but their use has spread in recent years. Paramedics, in particular, say having still and video images can be helpful if patients question how they were treated before arriving at a hospital."
