I just watched the first episode, Democrats, A look at how drama in Athens was deeply connected to Athenian democracy. It was an insightful description of how Athenian drama influenced the politics of its day and was used to address grievances with the actions of the government. The way in which the play Trojan Women reflected the Athenian atrocity of murdering and enslaving the people of the island of Milos. The politicians who made that decision had to watch the play that showed the tragedy they caused barely veiled. If only modern politicians had to endure the same experience.
